Workplace Status:
Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary work location three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Team:
Customer Solutions enables commerce between General Motors, GM Dealers, and consumers. From online vehicle shopping to service scheduling to buying parts, accessories and digital experiences, Customer Solutions focuses on every phase of commerce. We build front-end applications, individual services and platforms-as-a-service, ensuring the best reuse across multiple lines of business (LOBs). We use agile methodologies to validate hypotheses and GM's proven 5-star approach to optimize performance, security, and total cost of ownership.
The Role:
This position is with the Loyalty tech team helping build GM's Loyalty platforms with world class earn/redeem experiences to increase advocacy and engagement of our customers. This critical hands-on role will concentrate on the overall integration design and development for the range of products under the GM Loyalty umbrella. This role will be primarily working in the PIDP (Personalized Incentive Delivery Platform) space helping provide incentives to existing and new customers.
This PIDP Staff Software Engineer is responsible for participating in all aspects of the software development lifecycle which includes estimating, technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment, and support of application developed. He/ She will work with other IT staff members to ensure the highest degree of functionality and reliability of our infrastructure. This position requires an individual who is hands-on .NET, Angular, React, & Java development, Spring Boot, detail-oriented, able to adapt under stressful conditions, can multitask, possesses solid technical communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities:

  • Understand and validate integration requirements
  • Performs as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more platform or application components.
  • Defines and leads corporate software strategy for new technology, highly complex features, or significant enhancements for current, new, or major programs
  • Provide, technical leadership to execution teams for development and integration
  • Leads comprehensive design analysis of design solution
  • Create High-level and Low-level Design Documents meeting client requirements, standards, and best practices
  • Develop Install, configure and deploy Microservices for the PIDP Platform
  • Develop Business Process Orchestrations
  • Write automated unit test cases providing acceptable code coverage
  • Co-ordination of implementation with various teams to create development plans, support delivery and test of scalable, reusable, supportable and repeatable architectural and design patterns
  • Perform and provide support for deployment and post go-live
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members
  • Assist in configuring our Azure environments
  • You define the structure of the system, its interfaces, and the principles that guide its organization, software design and implementation.
  • Responsible for the management and mitigation of technical risks, ensuring that the solution services can be realistically delivered by the underlying technology components.
  • Conduct in-depth specific code reviews to optimize resource utilization and capabilities, delivered by the vendors that we work with.
  • Understand and clarify complex business integration requirements and create scalable/manageable designs
  • Lead small development teams in multi-phase, heterogonous work environments, with multiple work streams
  • Develop integrations against, Azure API Management, Salesforce, APIM, and other technologies
  • Test, deploy, support, and maintain integration platforms
  • Develop, enhance, and support Postgres DB instances as well as their interfaces
  • Actively document implementations, so others can easily understand
  • Provide, communicate, and support common best practices among software community
  • Performs as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more platform or application components


Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years .NET experience with different framework like Spring, JMS, REST/SOAP web services and any RDBMS.
  • Must have full-stack experience in configuring a Microservice Application on cloud (AWS, Azure), architecting, designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications.
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in .NET, Angular, React, JAVA/ J2EE, JSON, XML, SOAP, Spring/Spring Boot, Kafka, Sonar or equivalent code quality tool, GitHub, GitHub Advanced Security, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of REST architectural style and web standards (i.e., JSON, CORS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of modern relational databases and data access frameworks
  • Strong command of object-oriented design principles and prevailing design patterns
  • Strong DevOps background of creating and maintaining enterprise-wide solutions.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful and SOAP.
  • Working experience with Enterprise Integration pattern.
  • Working knowledge of application security technologies, i.e., OAuth2, OpenId Connect, SSO, SAML, etc.
  • DevSecOps, CI/CD, Agile, TDD and/or BDD, containerization (Kubernetes/Docker), unit testing and mocking frameworks
  • Strong mentorship skills promoting a learning environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on Azure Cloud experience gained on company or client projects.
  • Ideally 5+ years of technical leadership experience
  • Good to have familiarity with other Integration platforms such as Azure API Management
