User Research Manager
Position Summary
Job Title: User Research Manager
Location: Austin, TX; Cedar Falls IA
We are in search of an experienced User Research Manager to build a user research team and implement a research strategy for the company. Your proficiency in data analysis, user research techniques, and the knowledge of the gaming industry will be instrumental in guiding our strategies and shaping our decision-making processes.
Reports to: Director of Market & Competitive Intelligence
Key responsibilities:
Research Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive research strategy to inform the design, development, and marketing of our mobile games.
- Collaborate with multiple product teams to understand research needs and objectives. Manage relationship with key products stakeholders, creating a research roadmap to run along-side product development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders outside product teams (VIP, Marketing, Customer Service), make sure they receive necessary qualitative data support.
User Research
- Plan and conduct consumer insights and user research activities including usability testing, focus groups and surveys using such tools as Playtestcloud, Alchemer, Qualtrics, Survey Monkey etc.
- Analyze and interpret data to uncover player insights and provide recommendations for game improvements.
- Create and maintain detailed player profiles and personas to better understand our player base and their preferences.
- Establish systems for collecting and managing player feedback after game updates.
- Use a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to answer the questions proposed by stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Sociology, Human-computer interaction, Psychology etc.) and 5+ years of relevant job experience working in areas of consumer research;
- Experience in the interactive entertainment industry (e.g. video/mobile gaming, video/entertainment platforms), streaming industry (e.g. video, music);
- Experience in team management and project coordination;
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously;
- Comfortable speaking and leading discussion with a variety of business stakeholders;
- Excellent knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods;
- Excellent survey writing skills;
- Experience with Alchemer, Qualtrics or other similar tools;
- Experience in data manipulation and statistical software (e.g. SPSS, R/Python or any other);
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau;
- Experience with self-moderated user research tools such as usertesting.com and playtestcloud.com;
- Experience leading in-person focus groups and setting up the plans for such research activities.
