The Role
The VR Assembly/Tooling Engineer will be responsible for developing and deploying ME tooling in an immersive virtual factory. With a shift towards virtual IVER builds earlier in product development, this role will be responsible for validating robust manufacturing tools with ties to the vehicle software testing strategy.
In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible for virtual and actual equipment related to the manufacturing process.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Develop and deploy Manufacturing Engineering virtual diagnostic tools and model(s) in an immersive factory.
- Capture and resolve virtual reality manufacturing issues identified.
- Debug and root cause issues with vehicle electronic control units affecting testing applications using CAN (ISO15765), UDS (ISO14229), and DoIP (ISO13400) serial data protocols.
- Perform EOL validation in (Virtual) System Benches and support pre-production vehicle builds as required.
- You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
- Root causing parasitic drains in EVs.
- Support advance technologies to supply vehicle power / energy management within GA.
- You will propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
- Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
- You will keep regular contact with partners outside the work group
- You may evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5+ years of launch experience in a manufacturing plant environment
- Familiar with Virtual Hardware-in-the-Loop schemes
- Manufacturing Engineering Experience (3+ years of experience)
- Outstanding Software debugging and troubleshooting experience
- Ability to read and understand CAN (ISO15765), UDS (ISO14229), and DoIP (ISO13400) serial data protocols
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical architectures
- Some travel is required
What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Familiar with controller hardware architecture, HWIO
- Familiar with End-of-Line Assembly Verification systems such as GTS
- Familiar with Microsoft Visual Studio for software development
- Utility-file and SPS Interpreters experience
- Electrical system bench experience
- Familiarity with product release processes (SPR/SPD, 3PD, etc.)
- Vehicle assembly plant launch experience
This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP, DTAP or localization.
