The Opportunity

HomeAway, an Expedia Inc brand is hiring for a Director of Business Development. In this role, you will be a key member of the Strategy team, responsible for business development activities: identifying partnership targets, negotiating deals, overseeing integrations and optimizing partnerships after launch. In this role, you will passionately advocate for partnership priorities within the organization to ensure they are delivered.. You will work closely with the product, marketing, and sales organizations to drive business development initiatives, focused on driving high quality partnerships that increase the distribution of HomeAway properties and drive new properties into our network.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and align vision, strategy, and processes for business development with company objectives and strategy

  • Drive prioritization of business development partnerships to maximize efficiency of allocated development resources

  • Innovate to craft mutually beneficial partnerships that creatively utilize existing tools

  • Develop and execute approach for partnerships that drive new properties into HomeAway’s global network
  • Develop and execute approach to distribute HomeAway’s properties onto other sites, driving additional traveler demand to our owners and property managers
  • Partner with product and new sales engineering function to deliver required set of tools to drive high quality partnerships

  • Evaluate and address all inbound North American business development inquiries

  • Leverage existing network to drive business development partnership

  • Develop and maintain network of existing and potential partners

Required skills:

  • An MBA from a top program with a record of academic excellence
  • Over five years of business development and/or strategic work experience in top tier consulting or investment banking
  • Over two years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated ability to run operationally efficient business development processes

  • Proven track record of creatively designing and executing partnerships & successfully negotiating and closing partnership deals

  • Familiarity with technical elements of typical online partnerships

  • Experience in travel and/or vacation rentals and/or the web a strong plus

  • Exceptional modeling skills (SQL, Tableau, Excel, etc.) & analytic horsepower to drive data analysis with or without the aid of additional resources

  • True passion for the travel and vacation rental industries with desire to form on-going industry relationships
