The kiddos don't have to be the only ones celebrating a first day of something. With area schools starting up just around the corner, perhaps it's time to shift your career path to have your own "first day" at one of Austin's growing startups. If so, consider checking out the ones hiring below.

What they do: Golden Frog’s mission is to take back the internet to preserve an open and free internet and help users protect their online privacy, security and freedom through their solutions. You’ll also notice on their website their joint efforts with the Smithsonian to raise money to save the critically endangered Panamanian golden frog.

Why you want to work here: Every day is different! It may seem like a big business, but Golden Frog’s team is committed to maintaining that charming “startup” feel as well as a solid work/life balance. You’ll gain responsibility quickly with access to the best technology and tools and constant support from the CEO and executive team. Plus, Golden Frog offers profit sharing for all employees, lunch and learns and in-office events.

Note from the president: "We're passionate about online privacy, security and freedom, and looking for others who share this passion. With a network of users in over 200 countries, we're seeking candidates who are motivated and innovative, and desire to create global tools which enable a free, open Internet in our fast-paced environment." — Sunday Yokubaitis, President

What they do: HotSchedules is an all-in-one restaurant scheduling tool making it easier for restaurant leadership to create, communicate and manage their employees schedules. This year, they were recognized by Apps Run the World as one of the Top 500 Largest Enterprise Apps.

Why you want to work here: Game time anytime! HotSchedules offers amenities like a pool table, foosball, multiple ping pong tables, plus Xbox and Playstation. Want to give back to the community? Four times a year, HotSchedules holds Charity Days, allowing you to give back to your favorite charity. Plus snacks, pizza Fridays, First Friday (an event each month when the executives cook for the team), open PTO, and cell phone and gym reimbursements.

Note from recruiting: “An ideal candidate for HotSchedules is someone who has a background in the restaurant industry and a passion for technology. We are a hard working, humble bunch that knows how to have fun and give back to the community. We look for candidates who have what we call the "service gene," someone who loves to delight their customers, no matter who those customers may be. Our company values are our guiding principles to everything we do — Fun, Service, Humility, Creativity and Family. If you want to help revolutionize the way restaurants operate, this may be the place for you!” — DeeDee Breaux, Sr. Technical Recruiter

What they do: The online shipping marketplace, uShip, serves primarily the commercial freight, vehicles, and household goods market, bringing transparency and efficiency to freight transportation. You may also recognize this name from the sick SXSW party they throw each year.

Why you want to work here: Chef on the scene! Each day a chef prepares lunches for the team. In addition, uShip offers free breakfasts, snacks and drinks daily. All the PTO and all the dogs! Dogs are welcome at your side or even on your desk. Fully paid health and dental insurance, plus 401K matching with no vesting required. You’ll also get a yearly uShip shipping credit.

Note from recruiting: “In general, ideal candidates are self-motivated, self-managed, and entrepreneurial spirited….we have a very results oriented environment, so we look for people that are genuinely passionate about technology and motivated to take initiative when opportunities arise. We have a lean management layer at uShip, so hiring people that understand and appreciate the responsibility that comes along with a flexible work environment is key.” —Angie Meier, Recruiter

What they do: ESO solutions develops software programs to connect EMS and healthcare so information can be easily shared and patient care approved. In May, ESO was named as a winner of the 2016 Austin A-List Awards, recognized as a top startup in the Growth (Mid-Stage) category.

Why you want to work here: Rooftop happy hours, duh. In addition to group outings, ESO offers team building events throughout the year, continued education opportunities, regularly scheduled company events (not just the winter holiday party!), a fully-stocked break room, a competitive PTO policy and company holidays, plus wellness and lifestyle stipends.

Note from the president: "ESO is dedicated to solving some of healthcare’s most difficult problems through data and collaboration. We are searching for dynamic team players who roll up their sleeves to face challenges, embrace a culture of openness and collaboration, and share in our mission of moving healthcare forward." - Chris Dillie, President and CEO
