For Senior Software Engineer Steve Massaro, Liquibase’s transition to fully remote work wasn’t just seamless due to its collaboration tools — it was also made easier by the company’s “no punks, no jerks” philosophy.

“Employees are empowered to maintain the culture by being honest and transparent with each other and the company,” Massaro said.

AUTOMATION FUELS ACCELERATION

Liquibase’s platform enables DevOps teams to automate their database change process, allowing them to accelerate software delivery.

Taking a people-first approach, the company has managed to cultivate a cohesive culture with the capacity to evolve. Massaro added that various events and employee-focused goal-setting ensures that team members feel like they’re a part of a larger community.

Luckily for remote job seekers, Liquibase is searching for more talented professionals to join its growing, dynamic team. And if you ask Massaro, there are major benefits that come with having a virtual workplace, including the opportunity to make less of an impact on the planet. In fact, according to the Harvard Business Review, work-from-home mandates at the start of the pandemic initially caused CO2 levels to drop by 17 percent.

Massaro caught up with Built In Austin to describe his company’s remote culture and the perks of working from home. The best part? Liquibase is hiring now.

How would you describe your company’s culture in a single word, and why would you choose that word?

I would describe our team’s culture as dynamic. Liquibase is very focused on making sure that its employees feel valued and comfortable, offering a variety of employee-centric events and goals. We’re constantly learning and adjusting as we discover new things about ourselves and our team.

What do you personally enjoy most about being a fully remote employee?

I personally enjoy not having to commute to work and not paying for gas. But most importantly, I appreciate the opportunity to reduce my carbon footprint by driving less.
