Backed by a fresh injection of Series A funding, emptyvessel, an independent gaming studio based in Austin, has secured a total of $11 million in venture capital. The latest round’s investors included NCSOFT and 1AM Gaming.

Emptyvessel’s first game title DEFECT is currently in development for PC and console. As the studio primarily innovates within the immersive shooter space, DEFECT is slated to be an objective, squad-based shooter game set in a futuristic cyberpunk world. The game, created by alumni developers from studios like Activision, Crystal Dynamics and Naughty Dog, is available for wish-listing on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The new capital will allow emptyvessel to continue fueling DEFECT’s development for console and incorporate single-player support into the game. In addition to improving its studio’s infrastructure, emptyvessel plans to scale and grow its team.
