How Huntress Expanded Its Cybersecurity Platform
When Huntress's leadership team decided to transition the company into the identity space three years ago, everything changed.
Sean Bizjack, an account executive II, vividly remembers the day CEO Kyle Hanslovan spoke to team members about the company’s plans to explore identity products. Looking back now, he sees this moment as a premonition of what was to come.
What Does Huntress Do?
Huntress is a cybersecurity company that helps businesses strengthen their defenses through managed security products and support from its Security Operations Center. Its platform includes Managed Endpoint Detection and Response, Identity Threat Detection and Response, Security Awareness Training, Security Information and Event Management, and Identity Security Posture Management. Huntress sells through managed service providers and directly to companies’ internal IT and security teams.
“Fast forward, and now, 70 percent of the signals that come through our Security Operations Center are identity-related,” Bizjack said.
Bizjack joined Huntress in 2022 following the acquisition of his former employer, cybersecurity awareness training company Curricula. Through this experience, he learned how companies evolve from being early-stage startups to Series D-funded organizations.
Over the past few years, Huntress has reached many milestones. From launching new products to adding hundreds of team members, the company has transformed, but its vision of shattering the barriers to enterprise-level security remains unchanged.
“I believe Huntress has always stayed true to its mission but has learned how to become a multifaceted platform that can align with a larger range of companies,” Account Executive II Brett Sklena said.
Huntress’s Key Growth Milestones
About four years ago, Huntress started building its Internal IT & Security motion, which would allow Huntress to reach a broader market by selling directly to companies’ internal IT or security teams, rather than managed service providers alone.
At first, the motion was slow going.
“We hired multiple leaders, built sales teams and tried to launch a channel program on multiple occasions, but were having a difficult time gaining traction,” Bizjack said.
Luckily, Huntress leadership recognized the need for an experienced chief revenue officer who would be able to create processes at scale and get the company back on track.
Now, Bizjack said, IIS contributes multi-millions to annual revenue capture.
Sklena, who has worked at Huntress for four years, has helped grow the IIS department from its inception, assisting with the annual recurring revenue expansion from around $40 million ARR in 2022 to $250 million ARR in 2026. He’s watched Huntress's market expansion into Australia, Europe and Latin America, as well as the company’s expansion of its channel partnerships in 2025.
“I’m very happy with Huntress's growth to this point, while also staying true to the mission,” Sklena said.
But none of the aforementioned milestones would have occurred if there weren’t great products to sell, and since joining, Sklena has seen Huntress's product suite expand to six solutions. In 2022, Huntress launched its Security Awareness Training solution as a result of its acquisition of Curricula, which was followed by the launch of Identity Threat Detection and Response in 2023. Security Information and Event Management was released in 2024, and Identity Security Posture Management hit the market in 2026.
What do Huntress security products do?
- Security Awareness Training (SAT): Helps employees recognize and respond to phishing, social engineering and other cyberthreats. Acquired through Curricula, Huntress's managed program combines story-driven lessons, realistic phishing simulations and threat-based exercises, while automating training schedules and administration.
- Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR): Monitors user accounts and cloud identity systems for active attacks, such as stolen credentials, account takeovers, session hijacking, malicious email rules and unauthorized applications. Huntress's security operations center investigates suspicious activity and helps contain confirmed identity threats.
- Security Information and Event Management (SIEM): Collects and analyzes security logs from systems such as endpoints, firewalls, VPNs, identity platforms and cloud environments. Huntress filters the data for security-relevant activity, supports threat investigations and retains logs for compliance reporting and audits.
- Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM): Proactively strengthens Microsoft 365 environments before an attack occurs. The product finds and fixes weak configurations, excessive account privileges, gaps in multifactor authentication and policy drift, then continually maintains Huntress-recommended security controls.
Together, the products help prevent employee-driven threats, identify security gaps, detect identity attacks and analyze activity across a company’s technology environment.
According to Sklena, these products arose out of a desire to more fully address customers’ needs, embracing the heart of the company’s mission.
“Huntress will never stop building for the 99 percent and fighting for those that need the most help,” Sklena said.
How Huntress Supports Employee Growth
As Huntress scales, leadership works hard to ensure that one thing remains intact: its supportive, tight-knit culture.
“Even after all of the growth Huntress has earned, the culture has remained inclusive, collaborative and transparent,” Sklena said.
“Even after all of the growth Huntress has earned, the culture has remained inclusive, collaborative and transparent.”
According to Sklena, his employer’s standout culture has been critical to ensuring employees’ skill sets grow alongside the changing needs of the business — as has the support of the sales engineering team.
“As Huntress continues to bring more products to market, the more account executives need to learn,” he said. “Our sales engineers are constantly sharing anecdotes and answering technical questions to ensure everyone is well-prepared to do their jobs.”
On top of that, Huntress provides sales employees with a long list of resources, including professional development funds, BetterUp memberships for coaching and development, and AI assistance.
Bizjack said digital coaching platform BetterUp has given him productivity hacks and well-being tips, while revenue intelligence platform Gong helps his team navigate deal analysis and positioning strategy.
“Momentum reduces admin work, which frees us up to work deals on a deeper level,” Bizjack said.
Outside of the daily grind, Bizjack said Huntress leaders ensure that he and his teammates get time to connect personally through in-person meetups, reflecting the company’s commitment to creating a sense of community.
As Huntress evolves, its people have ample chances to grow alongside it. That’s something Bizjack has learned firsthand, having become a six-time Presidents Club winner during his employment, among other achievements. But for him, building a career at Huntress isn’t just about professional wins — it’s about selling a product employees actually believe in.
“At the end of the day, it’s about helping people, not selling them something they don’t need,” Bizjack said.
