Sonar equips organizations with AI code verification and governance solutions to help them reduce the costs and risks associated with AI and agentic coding. The company recently announced its acquisition of Gitar, an AI-native code review platform.
The deal will enable Sonar’s customers to analyze all the elements of their codebase, set and enforce standards in an auditable manner and agentically fix any issues as agents are writing code and in their continuous integration workflows. Gitar will remain a standalone product with no impact to its customer base following the transaction, and its leadership team will join Sonar to spearhead future development of the Gitar platform.
“Enterprise adoption of AI depends on strong verification of agentic output,” Tariq Shaukat, Sonar’s CEO, said in a statement. “Now, enterprises will have a unified platform that brings together the best of AI code review and the most comprehensive verification engine in the market, providing the highest level of assurance whether you're using Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Devin or GitHub Copilot.”
