Build and lead Athene’s Austin engineering organization and own the technical strategy, architecture, delivery, and operations of a cloud-native retirement platform. Oversee decisioning, calculation services, APIs, transaction workflows, integrations, and data capabilities. Recruit and develop engineering talent, establish security and operational controls, drive AI-enabled development, and partner with business leaders on investments, vendors, and delivery outcomes. The role requires hands-on coding, architecture, and executive influence in a regulated financial-services environment.

Analyze platforms, partner integrations, data capabilities, and system architecture to guide product strategy. Own the roadmap and backlog, write requirements and acceptance criteria, lead technical discovery, define metrics, and develop business cases and executive recommendations. Partner with engineering, architecture, distribution, actuarial, and external organizations to align priorities, resolve trade-offs, and support delivery of a new annuity and retirement technology platform.

Provide hands-on technical leadership for a new financial services platform supporting product rules, calculation services, APIs, and safe AI-agent interfaces. Design and deliver production software, guide architecture, establish testing and CI/CD practices, build controls for accuracy and auditability, coordinate AI coding agents, investigate incidents, and mentor engineers. The role requires cloud-native distributed systems expertise, strong software engineering skills, and experience in regulated environments.

Leads strategic growth and innovation initiatives from business-case development through launch. Manages strategic partnerships, translates commercial objectives into product and technology requirements, oversees integrated roadmaps, establishes operating models and governance, and coordinates cross-functional execution. Advises C-suite leaders, drives stakeholder alignment, and maximizes adoption of innovation capabilities across financial-services channels and operations.

Owns territory sales for Apollo defined contribution private assets and Vitera guaranteed income solutions. Builds relationships with retirement plan advisors, recordkeeper field teams, and consultants; converts platform approvals into local adoption; develops territory plans and pipelines; leads advisor education, events, and presentations; and coordinates joint opportunities with partners and internal specialists. Requires extensive industry relationships, defined contribution expertise, sales leadership, and 70%+ travel.
