Defend the digital world and design the future of security at Rapid7!

As cybercriminals become more sophisticated, we need to provide simple, yet powerful solutions to help our customers defend their digital environments.

Are you up for the challenge?

The Product eXperience Enablement (PXE) team is responsible for creating, maintaining and advocating for the standards that align our products. We are looking for a writer who can help us bring that same level of alignment to our shared voice and help get that in front of our customers. We truly care about developing the best ways to get our customers the content they need when and where they need it.

Is This You?

You like words. You construct entire worlds around them. For fun, you sprinkle adjectives like brass accents.

As a lead content designer, you will connect the dots for our customers. Big picture. Small details. You’ve got this. Someone has described you as the love child between a wordsmith and an eagle.

Our ideal teammate thrives in a fast-paced environment, believes that learning is a critical aspect of the user experience, and is a self-starter. You believe that partnerships, collaboration, and teamwork are the key ingredients to success. In fact, you excel at bringing people together around a common cause and sparking joy in the hearts of those around you.

Do you feel like you want to be doing more with your words? On our team, not only will your words help our customers do their work, but they will drive the content experience for our products. In other words: you'll have a ton of opportunities to grow professionally along the way.

Oh, did we already mention creating content? You must love it.

Oh, the Things You’ll Do

You will shape and build content experiences that simplify the complex, ultimately, helping our customers achieve their security outcomes. You’ll set the tone for our content and drive cohesive narratives across our product platform and related touchpoints. You’ll work directly with a variety of UX design-related jobs including researchers, product managers, engineers, marketing, and customer operations to help establish connective language and a unified voice for Rapid7. You will create the words that follow our customers on their end-to-end product journey.

In order to be effective in this role, you’ll need to be able to build relationships across Rapid7 to drive content-focused thinking and be a relentless advocate for our users’ needs. You will drive content design so that it tightly aligns with our Rapid7 mission: to simplify the complex and help our customers achieve their security outcomes.

About This Role

In this role, you’ll:

  • Drive the direction, strategy, and vision for content experiences across our product portfolio.

  • Work with our partners to incorporate content driven thinking into our design system.

  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to encourage a content-as-a-priority approach.

  • Help design and build content experiences that guide our customers to achieve their outcomes.

  • Create technical content to support our products as needed.

  • Work closely with our Research, Support and Customer Success teams to understand how our customers actually use and deploy our products in the real world.

  • Create deep partnerships with our internal stakeholders to establish the processes, communication channels necessary to gather feedback and insights.

  • Create detailed feature requirement documents that clearly outline use cases, best practices, technical constraints.

  • Be a positive, supportive, kind, and thoughtful member of our Rapid7 family.

Your Skills and Passions

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • An obsession with grammar and writing rules.

  • A research-driven approach to content design.

  • An intense passion for technology and desire to learn about it.

  • Very strong technical knowledge; cybersecurity is a major plus.

  • An understanding of how networks and the internet work.

  • Experience working with regex, Git, JIRA, Markdown, Pendo, Figma, and Jenkins.

  • Experience working directly with a software development team.

  • Experience building, implementing, and socializing processes.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively work across a diverse set of teams.

  • The ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • The ability to be a team player.

  • The right mix of technical knowledge, writing skills, and analytical skills to deliver awesome documentation.

  • The tenacity, humor, and people skills to work with and obtain information from a wide variety of team members.

  • A desire to help others and lift teammates up.

And finally, it’d also be extra nice if you have the following education and experience:

  • BA/BS degree in English, Technical Writing, Technical Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • 3+ years of experience in writing technical content or documentation
