Director of Engineering, Payments

Expedia Group has a mission to become the world’s travel platform. As part of that effort, we are building a payments platform for vacation rentals. Our PCI compliant platform executes billions of dollars worth of transactions and includes a 24x7 mission critical suite of services. We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead this effort and expand our payment options for travelers and features for our vacation rental partners by building a world class payments platform.
In addition to people management responsibilities, as the leader of the Payments teams you will be responsible for collaborating with partners across the business in creating and executing a strategic plan for delivering new features required by the business while building a robust and scalable platform that can be leveraged across Expedia Group. This role oversees teams involved with processing payments from travelers, onboarding of new partners to our payments platform, payout of payments to those partners and financial reporting to partners and to Expedia’s financial systems and tax compliance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- You will lead and mentor multiple teams of developers and their managers.

- Build reliable, highly available, and highly scalable systems in a lean, agile, and test driven environment.

- You will partner closely with other tech leads and product managers to design and implement cutting-edge solutions.

- You will collaborate with teams across multiple organizations in Expedia Group to deliver new features to the payments platform.

- Help teams break through challenges by managing upwards to be sure innovation and speed to market are not impeded.


WHO YOU ARE:
Leadership Qualifications:

- You bring 8+ years of experience mentoring and developing teams for managers and individual contributors.

- You are experienced in leading software development teams at a Director level capacity.

- You have experience working multi-functionally to deliver business results.

- You are comfortable with ambiguity and influence.

- You possess an intellectual curiosity to seek out parallels across industries and instill implications within Expedia Group technology solutions.


TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field

- 8+ years in software development

- Having Payments & E-Commerce experience is a plus

- Deep knowledge of web services standards and related technologies (REST, JSON, XML)

- Experience with relational databases and non-relational datastores (SQL Server, PostGres, MongoDB, etc.)

- Validated track-record of building fast, reliable, large, multi-threaded, scalable, service-oriented web services

- Experience in profiling high traffic web applications and services
