Challenges you'd get to work on:

• Classify images and annotate images at scale
• Reverse Image Search technology to find fraudulent listings and related properties
• Deploy ranking and recommendation algorithms at scale
• Recommendation systems that automatically derive user interests using passive signals
• Refactoring experimental code for production-quality deployment and execution

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the dedicated engineer to the Economics and Data Sciences team here at HomeAway
• Work on larger programs/initiatives encompassing several projects that have a company-wide impact
• Assist the implementation and deployment of systems used for data collection, machine learning model training, and deployment of machine learning models
• Be an authority in the Deployment and Scoring phase of model development.
• Articulate storytelling to business & product leaders - i.e. focus on telling the "business" story that the data shows (and abstract the data complexities and process involved) and have a strong influence on the audience
• Work closely with various Product, Business and Engineering teams
• Oversee implementation of Agile processes within the Data Science team

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science and analytics fields
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, R, Python, and Scala
• Experience with AWS and distributed systems
• Experience with Agile software development process
• Experience working in Hadoop ecosystem
• Experience working with Big Data
• Strong database knowledge and expertise in SQL
• Experience implementing and deploying various Machine learning models
• Good storytelling and presentation skills i.e. be able to present business side of the story that data presents to c-team and business leaders
• Optional: Masters or Ph.D. in Statistics, Math, Computer Science or other quantitative field
