Opportunity:

HomeAway is seeking a Financial Analyst to be a part of the Commercial Finance team reporting to the team's Sr. Manager. The team is responsible for financial planning and analysis in support of the customer experience and R&D. We strive for a common language and data driven hypotheses, which can be validated through a test and learn approach to enable extraordinary analytical insights influencing faster and better business decisions. We are a team of hard workers who know don't take ourselves too seriously and want to bring fun to the office.

To be successful inthis role, ideally you will:

  • Have experience supporting a dynamic and fast-moving customer experience organization and understand operational efficiency metrics that go along with this space. 
  • Thrive in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment where priorities often shift requiring agility and quick adjustments
  • Have strong critical thinking skills, an innate sense of curiosity, and an aptitude for learning quickly
  • Synthesize data and utilize business insight to identify key metrics and leading indicators to predict outcomes and monitor health of the business
  • Be organized and able to handle multiple priorities while managing the interests of various stakeholder without sacrificing accuracy
  • Take leadership and ownership beyond their area of responsibility
  • Think independently and with sound judgement knowing when they have decision rights and when escalation is required

Financial Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Understand, report and predict costs based on geography, support models and key metrics while driving for appropriate sourcing strategies and increased productivity. Additionally, have the opportunity to implement fully burdened cost allocations
  • Provide direct support to Sr. VP of Customer Experience, his staff and finance leadership by effectively monitoring the business using analytics to predict financial outcomes including weekly tracking of head count and spend cadence, monthly reporting and trending, quarterly detailed re-forecast and annual budgeting
  • Share actual-budget variances with business partners and with counterparts in Austin (global HQ), Europe & Australia to ensure consistent financial processes are employed, using our FP&A system, as well as Excel
  • Synthesize the Commercial OpEx financial story into executive level presentations to communicate financial results, surface trends and report key business
  • Craft solid relationships with local finance colleagues to understand and remain plugged into local operating models, processes and procedures. In this capacity, this person will be able to identify, analyze and communicate current global trends and most importantly their impact on forward-looking financial forecasts
  • Drive efficiencies in the Finance organization by identifying process deficiencies, offering viable and scalable solutions and driving cross-departmental teamwork to implement those solutions

 Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ Years of experience in financial analysis, including executive level partnership and an emphasis in cost and head count
  • Validated experience utilizing advanced Excel skills to solve business problems, including such tools as VLookUp, HLookUp, SumIf, SumProduct and IndexMatch
  • Proven experience analyzing large volumes of data with an ability to synthesize it into trends and actionable recommendations
  • Experience forecasting head count and expense, managing to budget for multiple departments
  • Dynamic financial modeling skills to drive actionable productivity recommendations
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills for working globally and achieving multiple priorities on time and in a quality fashion
  • OLAP based financial planning software experience such as Hyperion, Adaptive Planning, Cognos. Deep understanding of accounting processes and concepts including USGAAP
