The Opportunity:

Senior Financial Analyst, Central Finance

HomeAway is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to be a part of the Central Finance team reporting to the team’s Sr. Director. Central Finance is responsible for the financial planning and reporting cycle, long term planning, and supporting key strategic initiatives for HomeAway. We consolidate HomeAway's global financial results and effectively communicating the results to internal executive leadership as well as Expedia (our parent company). We are also responsible for partnering with the other HomeAway finance teams in the identification and management of financial risks/opportunities, creation of financial targets, and the development of analysis to support financial trade-offs across regions and lines of business for optimal return. We are a close-knit team that loves to work together and have fun in the process.

In this role, you will:

  • Be a member of a team of analysts that have accountability for driving the financial planning cycle, leading key initiatives / projects that impact finance, and identifying & addressing financial opportunities and risks
  • Provide direct support to the Central Finance Sr. Director and the HomeAway CFO
  • Maintain Excel based financial models and reports to ensure accuracy and alignment to financial systems of record, chart of accounts, and business offerings
  • Assist in consolidating and synthesizing the global HomeAway financial story on a weekly and monthly basis, surfacing global trends, and reporting on key business drivers
  • Bring together weekly business metrics reporting for the Finance organization by consolidating inputs from other teams, summarizing weekly performance, and finding opportunities and risks to the current forecast. Reporting is used by the HomeAway executive team to make weekly trading decisions.
  • Produce thoughtful executive level presentations to communicate financial results
  • Develop operating expense budgets for HomeAway corporate functions including: Finance, HR, Legal, and Facilities
  • Be responsible for the consolidation, reporting, and variance analysis of operating expenses across the company.
  • Build relationships with other HomeAway teams to ensure alignment and completion of key deliverables
  • Improve the operational cadence and processes of our team. Identify and implement opportunities to increase efficiency (including systems / software).

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • The ability to thrive in an environment where priorities are constantly shuffling, and speed without sacrificing data quality is the norm
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with an innate sense of curiosity, that is complimented by an aptitude for learning quickly
  • Mature interpersonal skills. You portray a strong presence and be very articulate both verbally and written.
  • Expertise at summarizing and then synthesizing large amounts of data (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail – accuracy is key
  • Good judgement with the ability to independently make decisions when required

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience in finance based roles
  • Experience working for a technology company
  • Experience developing models in Excel “from scratch” as well as improving the efficiency and accuracy in existing models
  • Experience building presentations in PowerPoint
  • Ability to work effectively in team environments, particularly cross-functional teams
  • Effective time management and multi-tasking abilities
  • Foundational understanding of US GAAP Accounting
  • Experience with OLAP based financial planning software such as Hyperion, Prophix, Adaptive, Cognos or Clarity
