HomeAway is seeking a highly collaborative team contributor to join our Global PR team in Austin, Texas, as a global public relations specialist. This person will work in a fast-paced, agile environment and will be responsible for supporting consumer and corporate PR initiatives. The person for this position brings high energy and relevant experience to the team. The role guarantees great learning potential for an exceptional person looking to further his or her PR career in the fastest-growing category in travel. 

What you’ll do:

  • Responsibilities:
    • Support or lead global corporate and consumer PR projects, working closely with managers, to ensure all tasks are completed effectively and on time
    • Project lead programs and campaigns, collaborating with other teams within the company to ensure the best possible integration within the brand and integrated marketing team
    • Draft a variety of written materials, including news releases and media pitches as well as toolkits, for global teams to take and tailor for their regions
    • Create daily global media monitoring reports by gathering company and industry news using contracted monitoring tools, reporting to senior media and trends analyst
    • Lead development of all final results reports and, importantly, monthly highlights reels that summarize company coverage and merchandise work
    • Help identify business and travel trends for daily, weekly, and monthly pitches
    • Serve as PR rep and project coordinator key events and activations; help organize and lead team meetings and annual summits
    • Generate ideas that are newsworthy tying to team objectives that drive measurable results
    • Create and update global media lists, PR tools, templates, Q&As and messaging; maintain repository of team information and approved templates/documents and reports (team wiki)
    • Update team calendars and team progress toward objectives; publish on team wiki every week

Who you are:

  • Qualifications:
    • 3+ years of previous public relations experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in PR, communications, marketing, advertising or relevant social science major
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills in English; expert in AP style
    • Knowledge of communications management/media monitoring platforms (Cision, Meltwater, Critical Mention, etc.)
    • Knack for graphic design and video editing, and knowledge of basic tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, iMovie and/or Final Cut
    • Excellent organization and follow-through; extreme attention to detail; familiar with Agile
    • High level of initiative, strong interpersonal skills, positive work attitude, inquisitive personality
    • Super deadline oriented; strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
    • Experience collaborating with other teams and key partners to accomplish stated goals
    • Idea generator who is creative and nimble yet a strategic thinker
    • Travel, lifestyle, dotcom, technology PR experience a plus
    • be open to occasionally working additional hours and traveling up to 10% of the time
