SENIOR DIRECTOR, GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS

HomeAway, part of Expedia Group, is looking for a driven and creative leader to serve as Senior Director, Global Communications. You will lead the global communications team to create and deliver exciting, robust communications programs that amplify and elevate HomeAway’s customer, industry and technology profile.

This highly visible leadership role provides a unique opportunity to work across the spectrum of key functions within HomeAway and across Expedia Group. This role is a direct report to the Senior Vice President of Strategy, Brand and Communications.

In this role you will need to quickly earn the confidence of business leaders across the organization and be able to integrate strategic imperatives and business priorities into the company’s communications initiatives.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop subject matter expertise on our customers and technology, issues that impact our business, and the competitive landscape.
  • Create, execute and dedicatedly lead a strategic and dynamic communications plan that supports the long-term brand building and business goals, as well as regular communication touchpoints.
  • Craft a strong thought leadership platform to position the company and its executives as premier leaders with vision in the industry, including media relations and speaking engagements.
  • Implement a vision for internal communications to align culture and knowledge across our growing and geographically dispersed team.
  • Partner with other leaders and groups at HomeAway and Expedia Group to ensure corporate communications is in lockstep with, and fully utilizes, other initiatives and programs. Provide communications support and counsel to global colleagues.
  • Guide the global team to develop high-quality materials, including communications narratives, public relations, as well as internal, executive and corporate communications.
  • Direct management of team members and agencies. Budgeting and forecasting across the function.

Who you are:

  • BA/BS in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field preferred.
  • At least 10 years of communications experience, preferably including technology/e-commerce/machine learning and thought leadership programs.
  • Effective Communication: Expertise with cutting-edge communications practices and technologies, along with top-notch oral and written communication skills and understanding of social media usage in business applications. Excellent writing, editing and project management skills.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead a global team of employees and agencies, and to motivate each person to achieve consistently strong results and to grow and develop as a communications professional.
  • Prioritization and Planning: The ability to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously and move them to completion, working with a cross-section of colleagues and resources.
  • Industry Knowledge: Passion for the travel/vacation rental and technology industries, with desire to build ongoing industry relationships. Working knowledge of communication principles regarding government affairs and regulatory issues a plus.
  • Travel: 10-20%, with some international travel.
