ASR Research Manager

The R&D team is seeking a Research Manager to lead our Advanced Research team, help them push the accuracy of our ASR system, and continue developing innovative techniques in ASR and adjacent fields such as Speaker Diarization, NLP, and VAD. You can expect to have an impact from day one, with ownership and responsibility only increasing from there.
As a Research Manager, you will
- Manage a growing team (6) of researchers focused on Speech Recognition and adjacent fields.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and motivation to your research team.
- Stay on top of academia, attend and participate in research conferences.
- Drive architecture and technical direction for your team, in ASR and adjacent fields.
- Leverage technical skills, knowledge of the business, and academic field to identify new innovative approaches and new product features for Rev.
- Interact daily with other teams at Rev working towards a shared vision of democratizing speech understanding.
And you’ll need:
- Experience managing a team of researchers spanning both applied and pure research.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and grow researchers along their career paths while executing on the company’s objectives.
- Prior hands-on experience developing ASR systems and/or adjacent audio-based technologies.
- Broad mastery of speech recognition techniques such as WFSTs, lattice processing, neural net (RNN / DNN / LSTM), acoustic and language models, and Viterbi decoding.
- Experience publishing academic research and/or writing patents.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Comfort working with remote teams.
