Manages existing customer accounts as the primary Hyliion contact. Supports customers and their vehicles in all stages of the sales cycle, including application and route analysis, truck specification qualification, customer/driver onboarding, and in-service data reporting. Main point of contact internally representing the voice of customer and technical product feedback, primarily to engineering as well as operations orgs. Reports to Director of Sales.

  • Owns the customer experience and acts as a customer’s primary point of contact for all their needs, through all stages of the product life cycle and the majority of the sales cycle. Not involved in new customer lead generation and initial qualifying discussions.
  • Reviews and approves customer target applications, routes, truck specifications, and operational goals
  • Support Operations team with Hyliion hybrid system installation coordination, vehicle delivery, and customer onboarding to fleet managers, drivers and technicians
  • Generates and presents Hyliion value stories for customer vehicles, developing comprehensive use case and savings figures from operational data to drive adoption and repeat orders of Hyliion technology
  • Coordinates vehicle/technology demonstration programs with external partners and supports demo participants, such as fuel providers, sales channel partners, component providers, and others
  • Assists Engineering in definition of customer applications and requirements for current and new product development programs
  • Assists Marketing and Sales in the development of external sales, marketing, and public relations materials
  • Represents Voice of Customer internally, supporting field service prioritization and customer truck performance reviews to ensure a satisfied customer base
  • Reviews and approves engineering change notices affecting customer trucks
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% to support customer truck deliveries and trade shows

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers on technical topics, both orally and in writing
  • Understanding of basic mechanical and electrical engineering principles
  • Understanding of basic statistical and data analysis principles
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks in a fast-pace environment

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Commercial Vehicle, Automotive or related industry full-time or internship experience
  • “Customer-first” mindset
  • Effective communicator of technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Microsoft Suite, in particular PowerPoint and Excel

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • (2) years in sales/applications engineering, or similar customer-facing technical role, in the automotive/commercial vehicle industry
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

 

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional equipment as found in a typical office
