This week, Austin-based
announced it would expand its delivery service to West Lake.Nick Anderson (pictured below), general manager of Favor’s local operations, said it was a data-driven decision.
“We had our data scientists plot a map of where customers had opened the app in Austin, but were unable to request a Favor,” he said. “They found large pockets of demand in West Austin and it became clear that it was time to expand the zone.”
The area presents challenges for Favor runners because of its topography and population density. On the other hand, it's home to many families as well as companies like Spiceworks and Indeed.
“West Lake will introduce new challenges with population density, hills, and winding roads to name a few,” he said. “As we launch new markets and expand our existing zones, we learn how to handle these challenges and we’ll continue to get smarter here as we execute on our expansion plans.”
The app will work the same way in the new area, with all of the same delivery services already available in the rest of the city.
