Snap Kitchen raises $16.3M

After layoffs and location closings throughout 2017, Snap Kitchen kicked off the new year raising $16.3 million. Two undisclosed investors participated, according to a filing with the state. While the company did not issue a statement, a representative from Snap Kitchen did say they released a new meal plan subscription service at the start of the year. [FormDs]

TrendKite secures $11M

On Dec. 29, TrendKite closed $11 million in new funding led by Harmony Partners. The company will use the funding to invest in its machine learning PR analytics platform and expand the team by about 75-100 new hires. Since launch in 2012, TrendKite has now raised close to $50 million from investors. [Built In Austin]

Illumitex gains another $3M

Illumitex collected another $3 million in funding from three investors as an amendment to a previous funding secured in May last year. The company develops efficient LED technology used in vertical farming, cannabis cultivation and commercial lighting. Threatcare closes $2.9M in funding

Cybersecurity startup Threatcare raised $2.9 million in funding last week, according to a SEC filing. The company launched in 2014 as vThreat and develops cyber attack simulation software. In September, Threatcare launched Violet, a virtual cyber security professional that can run penetration testing and gap analysis, continuous network reconnaissance and security assessments, data exfiltration, malware beaconing and more. New Orleans startup announces Austin office, plans to hire 50

Zlien, a construction liens payment platform startup out of New Orleans, shared its plans to open an Austin office following a new round of funding. The company secured $10 million in funding on Wednesday, led by Austin VC firm S3 Ventures. This funding will be used to add 50 new hires across its offices in Austin, New Orleans and Egypt. Local PR agency announces greentech startup pro bono funding

Treble, an Austin-based PR firm, announced last week the launch of its pro bono seed and Series A funding rounds for qualifying, venture-backed green tech startups in the U.S. “This initiative is intended to ensure that companies focused on solving some of the most difficult challenges impacting planet Earth have the opportunity to have their voices heard,” said Ethan Parker, founder and CEO of Treble, in a statement. Accruent acquires Kykloud

Accruent announced on Wednesday that it has acquired U.K.-based Kykloud, a software firm that develops facility and asset surveying and management solutions. John Borgerding, CEO of Accruent, said the acquisition is part of the company’s global strategy to help clients easily manage via an app property surveying, third-party building maintenance and real estate operations. Netgate signs new lease for larger Austin headquarters to support growth

Netgate announced on Wednesday that it will move into a larger office space in North Austin during the first quarter of the new year. The company’s new lease includes a 15,331-square-foot space located at NorthTech Business Center 9 off Howard Lane.
