Atmosphere, which provides a streaming video platform for bars and other public businesses, will soon be upgrading to a new office building near Bouldin Creek in Austin.

The company recently signed a 10-year lease at a new building designed by architect Michael Hsu near the intersection of Lamar Boulevard and Oltorf Street. Atmosphere’s space will span the first, third and fourth floors of the building. The new office totals 110,000 square feet, which is nearly six times the size of its current headquarters at 416 Congress Ave.

The building is situated on a six-acre sanctuary with Bouldin Creek running through its backyard. Atmosphere plans to landscape the space into a park and garden area. The property abuts Bouldin Acres restaurant, which means co-workers will be able to get drinks and play pickleball after work.

The building already has a gym and locker rooms but Atmosphere plans to build a full cafe/bar and wellness center for its employees. To do so, it has hired interior designer Jamie Chioco for the remodeling work, which is expected to take 14 to 16 months.

Atmosphere, which spun out of Chive Media Group in 2019, recently raised $80 million in Series C financing along with $20 million in debt financing.

In addition to a new space, the company expects to double its workforce this year. It started the year with 244 full-time employees and plans to hire more than 350 people by the end of the year. Atmosphere says will have hired more than 56 of those 350 employees as of March 1.

More than half of Atmosphere’s new hires are in distribution sales and customer success. The other half are spread across engineering, content, ad sales and back-office roles.

Atmosphere’s streaming platform features 64 short-form video channels, including a new channel with TikTok videos. The videos are shown at more than 18,000 restaurants, bars, gyms, doctor offices and other businesses.

Atmosphere provides its hardware and video programming to businesses for a $99 activation fee. The content is funded by advertising, and businesses that show Atmosphere’s content can also pay to broadcast in-house advertisements and promotions between videos.

Atmosphere said it has more than doubled its customer footprint over the past year, reaching more than 20 million unique viewers each month.
