On the third Sunday of every month, Austin car enthusiasts gather at the River Place Four Points Cruise In to display the automobiles they take pride in.

As any gearhead will attest, while eye-catching exteriors and sleek silhouettes are part of the draw, what’s going on under the hood is what really counts. These enthusiasts spend significant time and money repairing and updating their car’s inner workings to optimize its durability and expand its capabilities.

Elsewhere in Austin, the following five companies are providing a range of services and products that are as wide-ranging as the vehicles on display. Built In Austin is spotlighting their missions, team members, and company cultures that help fuel innovation.

Look under the hood and learn more about what drives these companies to tackle challenges and create solutions.

What NinjaOne does: NinjaOne is an IT management platform that IT and managed service providers utilize to support remote workforces, identify and troubleshoot common issues and automate processes.

Rapid growth: “We are on track to nearly double our workforce in 2022, and we have plans to hire over 200 more people by the end of this year. We expect that pace to continue into 2023,” said Head of Talent Acquisition Mike Reed in an interview with Built In Austin last year.

Remote-first: NinjaOne fosters a remote work environment with plenty of opportunities for in-person connections when team members want the benefits of an office. “We encourage our employees to work wherever they are most comfortable and do everything we can to accommodate their needs,” Chief Revenue Officer Dean Yeck said in a 2022 interview with Built In Austin.

What findhelp does: Findhelp connects people seeking help with programs in food, utility and housing assistance, legal counsel, employment support, counseling and more.

Women in tech: Findhelp has partnered with Austin Women in Tech as a hiring partner and supports its team members with benefits like parental leave and an onsite breastfeeding room. “One of the best parts of the job is the amazing women and nonbinary engineers within the organization,” Software Engineering Manager Rachel Frock told Built In Austin in July 2022.

Work that matters: VP of Business Development Art Lopez spoke to Built In Austin in 2022 about providing impactful services to customers. “Given findhelp’s position in the social care space, it is even more critical for our client-facing teams to proactively provide guidance and leadership to our clients and partners to help them be successful.”

What ESO does: ESO is on a mission to make communities healthier and safer. The healthtech company harnesses the power of data to build software solutions that meet the evolving needs of EMS agencies, fire departments and hospitals.

Mission-driven culture: ESO’s employees are fueled by the desire to improve community health and safety through their products. “I correlate our mission to the “why” behind each product enhancement initiative,” said Director of Product Management, Hospital Systems, Sean Leung, while speaking to Built In Austin in 2022. “For example, enhancing humanitarian device exemptions with enterprise master patient index technology will significantly increase the overall match rate between EMS and hospital records.”

Intentional mindsets: When Director of Outside Sales Jillian Downey is vetting candidates, the number one skill she looks for is the ability to operate intentionally. “I once read an article that suggested people should “pay attention to their intention.” Mindset directly impacts behavior and behavior impacts results,” said Downey in an interview with Built In Austin last December.

What CertifID does: CertifID, one of Built In’s Best Places to Work in 2023, provides customers with a solution to prevent wire fraud and secure transfer via identity verification software, insurance and recovery services.

A unified culture: At CertifID, employees are unified around a clear, impactful goal of helping people avoid unfortunate financial situations. In order to support team members, the company invests in building a people-first culture that is backed by robust benefits and growth opportunities.

High growth: CertifID secured $12.5 million last May in a Series A funding round. CEO Tyler Adams told Built In Austin the investment would help support significant growth, with plans to grow the company from 30 employees to over 60 over the subsequent year.
