Allen Control Systems, or ACS, an Austin-based company dedicated to precision robotics in the defense sector, recently announced the opening of its new facility in Mountain View, California. The new engineering office will focus on accelerating the company’s autonomous precision capabilities for the U.S. and its allied forces.
The company is equipping its customers to combat the growing threat of low-cost weaponized drones. Its new Silicon Valley office will house electrical, software and computer vision talent, complementing its Austin-based team to design, build and deploy systems that can defeat hostile drones at a lower cost than conventional interceptors.
“With deep robotics expertise, our engineering team has already solved the incredibly complex problem of building a counter-drone system that is both cost-effective and scalable,” Mike Wior, ACS co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “With military targets and critical infrastructure acutely vulnerable to drone attacks, we will innovate and build with speed to meet this pressing threat. We are tapping into the unique talent market of Silicon Valley to continue to deliver essential capabilities to warfighters as quickly as possible.”
The Mountain View office opening coincides with ACS’s major manufacturing expansion in Austin. The initiative aims to scale production of the company’s autonomous weapon station, Bullfrog, which leverages computer vision, autonomous control and precision robotics and existing weapon systems to provide scalable counter-drone solutions.
