AppSignal, a company specializing in application performance monitoring, announced a $22 million Series A funding round led by Elsewhere Partners. The company aims to fill the gap between lightweight tools and expensive enterprise platforms for development teams, Brandon Swalve, AppSignal’s newly appointed CEO, told Built In via email.
Serving midmarket companies, AppSignal offers a comprehensive platform for automating monitoring workflows. Designed to be easy to set up and customize, its platform helps teams identify potential performance issues, enabling developers to improve their code before shipping out applications. The result is an enhanced end-user experience.
“As applications become increasingly complex, development teams need solutions that proactively surface issues and simplify observability across environments,” Swalve said. “AppSignal delivers simple, intuitive tools that are easy to adopt and easy to scale, while providing actionable insights for developers — not just more noise.”
Swalve’s appointment coincides with AppSignal’s expansion into the United States. The Amsterdam-based company has headquartered its stateside operations in Austin. Local industry veteran Swalve was SVP of go-to-market operations and analytics at Tricentis before joining AppSignal. He brings two decades of experience in growing product-led teams and implementing effective go-to-market strategies.
AppSignal serves more than 2,000 global customers and plans to enhance its solutions as it continues to grow. Its platform currently supports popular programming languages like Elixir, Java, node.js, Python and Ruby. Its new capital will enable it to expand into even more languages.
The company will also invest in building out its 21-person workforce throughout 2025. AppSignal will focus on growing its European team to meet increased regional demand for its solutions, while also establishing its North American base. Its Austin hiring plans include filling executive, marketing, sales, customer success, support and operations roles.
