Facebook is one of Austin's biggest tech companies, and its presence in the city just got even bigger.

On Wednesday, Facebook celebrated the grand opening of its new Austin office, located at 607 West 3rd Street, signifying a major expansion for Facebook in Austin.

Facebook has been in Austin since 2010, when it arrived in the city with just seven employees. Now Facebook has over 1,200 employees across multiple offices in Austin. This new office comes in addition to Facebook’s previous Austin locations, and has room for over 1,550 employees.

“We’re excited to open our newest Austin office at Third + Shoal. This office will support Facebook’s growth in Austin and help us attract people from the region’s tech community,” Katherine Shappley, Facebook Austin’s Head of Office, said in a statement. “As we continue to grow here, we remain committed to being a good neighbor and having a positive impact on the community.”

Facebook is one of Austin's biggest tech presences with offices in downtown and north central Austin.

The new office is located on floors 14 through 24 of the Third + Shoal building in downtown office. It occupies over 256,500 square feet.

And while the size of the office is impressive on its own, it’s home to a handful of amenities that you’d come to expect from a tech company like Facebook. This includes:

  • 14 art installations
  • Jam room for musicians
  • 10 outdoor decks
  • 3 full-service kitchens
  • Fitness center and lockers
  • Rotating pop-up shops
  • Recreational yoga room

Enrollment for the program opens October 14. In addition, Facebook also announced a $60,000 scholarship fund for the program.
