Austin-based cybersecurity company Forcepoint has appointed John Sorensen as its new senior vice president of Americas sales, a role in which he will lead efforts to reshape the region’s sales organization and modernize how customers protect their data.

Announced Tuesday, Sorensen brings more than 30 years of security leadership experience. He most recently served as vice president of global sales for data security at Entrust, and he previously worked at Forcepoint as vice president of global sales strategy and execution.

“John returns to Forcepoint at a pivotal moment for the company and the industry. Customers want a simpler, AI-driven way to control data risk across cloud, SaaS, endpoint and emerging AI workflows,” Forcepoint’s Rick Hanson said in a statement. Sorensen will report to Hanson in his new position.

Forcepoint’s AI-native data security solutions, delivered through the Data Security Cloud, enable enterprise and government clients to identify sensitive information in context, monitor how it’s used, assess risk levels and automate data protection within a single unified system.
