4 startups that recently launched in Austin

It’s a challenge to keep up with all the new apps and services launching every day, especially in a startup mecca like Austin. To help, we’ve rounded up four businesses that recently went live — or are about to — in our tech-friendly city.

San Francisco-based Allset launched in Austin this week, helping restaurant-goers book a table, pre-order and pre-pay over an app. Diners can select what they want before entering the restaurant, select the desired time of arrival, and walk into the restaurant with their meals arriving simultaneously. The app also allows for companies to pay via the app to provide local meals to employees.

So far the following local restaurants have partnered with Allset: Aster’s, Coriander, Draft Pick, Gino’s East, Gourdough's Public House - Downtown, Il Forte, Madras Pavilion, Mai Thai, Maiko Sushi Lounge, Ola Poke, Papadom, Searsucker, Star of India, Taj Palace and Zax Restaurant and Bar.

“We have more restaurants committed that will be trained and added to the app later after the launch,” said Stas Matviyenko, CEO of Allset. “We expect to have a total of 50 Austin restaurants live after the first month.”

Launched in Chicago in 2016, Bootler provides a search engine to easily locate food and alcohol delivery options available across the city. In April, the company expanded its reach to the Austin market, featuring seven different delivery companies including Postmates, Foodler and Saucey, with more on the way.

The website gives users side-by-side fee and wait-time comparisons so you can make the smartest buyer decision when selecting a restaurant and delivery service.

The team will remain in Chicago as they look to add new cities every month.

“We’ll be growing nationally in the upcoming months,” said Michael DiBenedetto, Bootler CEO. “A big priority of ours is to be in as many cities as possible. We don’t need actual people in each city, so we can scale more quickly.”

After closing a $2.3 million seed round this month, Austin startup Dosh looks toward this month’s public beta launch. Beginning April 25, users can sign up to take advantage of their free app that automates cashback offers, discounts and more.

The app finds savings opportunities when customers shop, dine out and travel using credit or debit cards. With recent additions to the platform including Forever 21, Applebees and IHOP, the Dosh network consists of more than 100,000 participating merchants.

For Forever 21’s partnership, any Dosh member will get 10 percent cash back automatically through the Dosh app on purchases over $100.

“Merchants and brands are working harder than ever to break through the noise and attract new consumers,” said Ryan Wuerch, Dosh founder and executive chairman in a press release. “We’ve built a platform that will dramatically change how merchants and brands acquire customers, build loyalty, and cause their customers to tell others about them. Merchants want to know that every dollar they spend performs, and Dosh delivers those results.”

Launched at the end of March, caterfox provides a SaaS solution to assist in the organizing, managing, reporting and analytics for catering companies.

“Our system lets you see how your sales are doing and get a clear snapshot of your business at all your locations,” said Nishin Sura, co-founder of caterfox in a press release. “We strive to keep our dashboard uncluttered in order for users to get where they need to go with as little clicks as possible. We know how busy catering staffs are which is why the design is minimal so as not to distract from the task at hand.”

Three monthly pricing models are available to support smaller businesses like food trucks called Appetizer, the Platter plan for franchised restaurants with multiple locations and the Banquet plan that can be customized based on client needs.
