Report on mergers and acquisitions, including LBOs and hostile takeovers, by breaking exclusive news, developing sources across the dealmaking community, identifying major story ideas, and explaining their significance to Axios readers. The role requires strong writing, collaboration, public speaking, and media appearances across television, radio, podcasts, and social platforms. The reporter will work in a high-pressure environment while supporting Axios’s Smart Brevity style and reader-first mission.

Staff Software Engineer leading architecture, hands-on development, and delivery of reliable frontend, backend, API, data, and production systems across multiple teams. The role drives multi-quarter initiatives, AI-enabled engineering practices, system scalability, security, observability, incident response, technical standards, mentorship, and alignment between technical investments and product outcomes.

Leads engineering strategy, architecture, reliability, delivery practices, and vendor selection across Axios products, platforms, workflows, and internal systems. Develops engineering managers and senior technical leaders, strengthens planning and quality, aligns engineering capacity with business priorities, and partners with executive, product, design, newsroom, and business stakeholders. The role also drives AI adoption in software development and defines engineering standards, benchmarks, and operating practices.
