The role requires Go development, Linux systems experience, distributed systems knowledge, containerization, CI/CD, and familiarity with DNS and networking.

Design, develop, optimize, and operate high-performance network datapath software for cloud infrastructure. Build packet-processing, routing, forwarding, virtualization, observability, and hardware-accelerated networking systems across Linux hosts, kernels, user space, NICs, DPUs, and SmartNICs. Investigate production performance issues, develop testing and benchmarking frameworks, author technical designs, collaborate across infrastructure teams, and mentor engineers.

Design and build software for global network infrastructure, including automation, orchestration, provisioning, lifecycle management, telemetry, validation, remediation, and DPU/SmartNIC integration. Lead architecture for scalable, reliable infrastructure systems, write RFCs and technical proposals, guide cross-functional initiatives, establish engineering standards, mentor engineers, and provide technical direction for emerging programmable and hardware-accelerated networking technologies.

Develop and maintain scalable network control-plane software, APIs, services, and tools for DigitalOcean’s Network Products team. Responsibilities include implementing, testing, optimizing, and supporting distributed systems; improving reliability, monitoring, performance, and customer experience; collaborating across networking teams; establishing engineering best practices; and contributing to API contracts and end-to-end product ownership.

Own technical revenue accounting for complex customer, partnership, and marketplace arrangements. Evaluate ASC 606 requirements, guide commercial teams, operationalize new monetization models, oversee recurring calculations and close activities, support controls and audits, and improve revenue processes through systems, automation, and AI. Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, Product, Billing, Engineering, and Finance while ensuring scalable, accurate, and audit-ready revenue operations.

Lead DigitalOcean’s AI/ML security strategy, architecture, governance, and multi-year roadmap. Build security controls, guardrails, tooling, and automations; oversee AI red teaming, adversarial testing, threat modeling, and model monitoring. Review AI product architectures, guide high-risk decisions, establish responsible AI policies, and brief executives and the board on AI security risks. Serve as the internal expert and external representative on emerging AI security topics, including agentic AI, model supply chains, prompt injection, and data integrity.

Partner with key business customers to optimize DigitalOcean cloud deployments, design architectures, troubleshoot technical challenges, drive retention and expansion, conduct business reviews, advocate for customer needs, and collaborate cross-functionally. The role also involves creating automation tools, delivering technical presentations and training, monitoring usage trends, and advising customers on cloud, AI/ML, cost, and performance optimization.

Provides legal counsel for datacenter and infrastructure transactions, including leases, colocation, design/build, operations and maintenance, and procurement agreements. Negotiates complex contracts, advises on risk and supplier performance, supports international expansion, and develops scalable legal contracting tools. Collaborates with procurement, engineering, operations, finance, tax, compliance, and senior leadership on infrastructure projects involving cloud computing and AI.

Lead benchmarking and low-level performance optimization for GPU-based inference. Solve memory, precision, and parallelization bottlenecks, tune kernels (CUDA/Triton/ROCm/AMD AITER), implement quantization (FP8/INT8/FP4), advise on hardware/software integration, mentor engineers, and translate hardware limits into shippable features for high-throughput, low-latency inference fleets.

Responsibilities include building APIs and microservices, implementing and optimizing services, troubleshooting customer issues, supporting existing products, improving development processes, and contributing to architecture and engineering best practices. The role involves end-to-end SDLC ownership, CI/CD deployment, distributed systems, containerized workloads, and collaboration across networking teams.

Assess product and application architectures, develop threat models, identify security risks, and guide engineering teams on remediation. Promote security culture through training, mentoring, vulnerability management, and internal security initiatives. Build security tooling, automation, patterns, and workflows that embed secure-by-design practices across engineering. Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to secure complex, large-scale cloud systems.

Lead assessment and mitigation of security risks in the virtualization stack. Build threat models, rubrics, and defenses; partner with kernel, virtualization, and provisioning teams to design and implement mitigations; mentor engineers, manage vulnerability backlog, and promote security best practices across product teams.
