Teams at Drover

Runs Drover’s trial ranch, conducts cattle tagging and virtual-fencing trials, leads customer deployments and training, troubleshoots field issues, gathers rancher feedback for engineering, engages prospective customers, and represents the company at industry events. The role requires hands-on cattle experience, technology comfort, strong communication, travel to ranches, and relocation to the Austin or Lockhart area.

Own hardware test strategy for a virtual fencing ear tag, including component verification, environmental and reliability testing, automated fixtures, data acquisition, and test reporting. Partner with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to identify failure modes, maintain traceability and calibration, analyze results, and establish scalable quality processes. The role also includes supporting early customer issues and occasional field debugging at ranches.

Lead embedded firmware development for a low-power, cellular-connected IoT ear tag. Responsibilities include firmware architecture, production coding and testing, fail-safe OTA updates, prototyping, board bring-up, component selection, and supporting OEM manufacturing. The role requires close collaboration across software, electrical engineering, founding, and field teams, including occasional travel to a ranch office and hands-on testing in outdoor environments.
