Collaborate with project teams to deploy tools, document processes, support training, gather requirements, evaluate vendor applications, and provide guidance to operators, engineers, and coordinators.

Summer 2027 internship supporting ERCOT’s Digital Technology Administration department across data operations, data product management, and grid research innovation. Interns will work on real electric-industry challenges, collaborate with ERCOT teams, and develop technical and professional skills. The role is full-time and requires on-site work in Taylor, Texas at least two days per week, with additional attendance based on business needs.

Summer 2027 engineering internship supporting ERCOT’s System Planning & Weatherization department. Interns may work in planning model administration, reliability assessment, regional and transmission planning, economic analysis, large-load studies, and related power-system functions. Responsibilities involve technical assignments addressing electric-industry challenges, with opportunities to apply software development, database querying, and power systems analysis skills in a professional team environment.

Summer 2027 engineering internship supporting ERCOT’s Interconnection and Grid Analysis Administration teams. Interns may work in generation integration, operations stability, system planning, or interconnection dynamic studies. Responsibilities involve technical projects addressing electric industry challenges, with opportunities to apply power systems analysis, software development, coding, and SQL database querying in an on-site professional environment.

Summer 2027 IT internship supporting ERCOT’s Digital Technology Administration department. Interns may work in endpoint management, cybersecurity, grid and market applications engineering, systems support, technology development, or test automation. The role provides hands-on project experience in a professional energy technology environment and requires on-site work in Taylor, Texas at least two days per week.

Full-time summer interns will support ERCOT’s System Operations department across event analysis, grid analysis, macroeconomic load analytics, and operations engineering/application support. Interns will work on real electric-industry challenges, collaborate with ERCOT teams, and develop technical skills involving software development, SQL, and power systems analysis. The role is based in Taylor, Texas, with at least two on-site days per week.

Summer 2027 engineering internship supporting ERCOT Commercial Operations across market analysis, validation, congestion revenue rights, wholesale market operations, and market intelligence. Interns will work on real electric-industry challenges while developing technical and analytical skills. Candidates must pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree, preferably in electrical engineering, power systems, computer engineering, or economics, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and work onsite in Taylor, Texas at least two days weekly.

Develops and manages transmission system models for ERCOT operations and planning, including steady-state, short-circuit, geomagnetic disturbance, generation, and load models. Validates submitted network data, resolves modeling issues, creates modeling methodologies, and builds software tools using Python, Java, C#, and SQL. Supports modeling infrastructure, databases, interfaces, and applications while coordinating with transmission providers and internal stakeholders. Provides training, manages upgrades, and assesses NERC standard changes.

Manages the Grid Implementation team and leads analysis of upcoming load, generation, and transmission changes to identify and mitigate reliability issues. Oversees system studies, grid modeling, transmission constraints, Congestion Management Plans, Remedial Action Schemes, and Extended Action Plans. Coordinates with planning, operations, transmission providers, and industry committees; ensures compliance with NERC and ERCOT requirements; develops operating plans; and hires, coaches, and manages staff.

The GMS Application Engineer supports the Markets Management Systems, involved in design, development, testing, and operational support for market applications.

Analyze wind and solar forecast performance, develop advanced forecasting methods (including machine learning), integrate impacts into grid operations, perform system modeling and studies, and support reliable electric system planning and operations in compliance with NERC and ERCOT standards.

The Principal Commercial Operations role leads ERCOT's wholesale market design, advanced analysis, regulatory engagements, and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring market efficiency and reliability.

Design, build, test, and maintain full‑stack web applications for ERCOT grid and market systems (RIOO/NDCRC). Collaborate with stakeholders, follow SDLC and CI/CD practices, perform troubleshooting, code reviews, mentoring, and optimize deployments using cloud, containers, and data pipeline tools.

Lead technical development and policy for grid interconnection studies, modeling, and emerging technologies. Advise leadership, mentor engineers, develop methodologies and rules for evaluating generation and large loads, represent ERCOT externally, and publish technical guidance to ensure reliable integration of new technologies.

Manage and lead a team coordinating ERCOT's state policy initiatives and relations with the Texas PUC and legislature. Oversee analysis, monitoring, and communication of legislation, PUC rulemakings, and stakeholder activities; produce executive briefings and impact analysis; coordinate with General Counsel and Executive Team; mentor staff and manage escalations to support data-driven policy decisions and implementation guidance.

Develop and maintain Electric Power Grid applications by applying software engineering principles, utilizing various programming languages, and incorporating AI/ML technologies while ensuring adherence to SDLC processes.

Maintain, upgrade, integrate, and monitor ERCOT Grid and Market Solutions (GMS) systems (EMS/SCADA, MMS, PI, PMU, OTS, etc.). Plan and execute software releases, containerized deployments with CI/CD, perform non-functional testing, troubleshoot production incidents, provide 24x7 on-call support, coordinate with vendors and market participants, and develop documentation and monitoring to improve system reliability.
