Supports business process improvement by researching workflows, collecting data, maintaining project records, developing presentations and reports, and designing AI-powered automation solutions. The intern bridges business teams and technical systems using AI tools and automation platforms. This is an on-site summer internship in Austin, Texas, with no relocation or housing assistance.

Leads enterprise engineering technology strategy and lifecycle ownership, including evaluation, deployment, governance, support, vendor coordination, training, and continuous improvement. Advises stakeholders on engineering software, cloud solutions, digital delivery, integrations, and emerging technologies. Develops workflows, standards, documentation, and adoption plans while resolving technical issues and influencing modernization and investment decisions. Requires extensive transportation-project technology experience, strong OpenRoads Designer and ProjectWise expertise, AEC digital-delivery knowledge, and demonstrated mentoring and cross-functional collaboration.

Directs a large, multidisciplinary toll technology group of 25–40+ employees. Oversees multiple projects, staffing, priorities, schedules, technical and operational performance, client relationships, business development, recruiting, employee development, compensation reviews, and succession planning. Requires extensive tolling agency and industry experience, strong leadership, and at least 12 years of relevant experience with supervisory responsibility.

Manage GEC County Road Bond program projects: oversee consultants, ensure contractual compliance, budgets, schedules, and regulatory review. Lead planning, design review, right-of-way and utility coordination, bid coordination, client and stakeholder meetings, and mentor project staff while supporting proposal and business development efforts.

Assist engineering teams with research, design, and preparation of engineering drawings and documents; perform basic engineering calculations and support tasks under supervision.

Assist project teams with design calculations, reports, engineering plans, specifications, estimates, data collection, and field investigations. Use engineering tools and software to develop conceptual and detailed designs, support project delivery, and perform assigned research and administrative tasks.

Lead development and implementation of transportation funding strategies, monitor funding opportunities, evaluate project eligibility, manage grant applications and post-award compliance, coordinate stakeholders, produce planning studies and reports, mentor staff, and occasionally serve as project manager on complex transportation and urban design projects.

Assist senior scientists with field investigations, data collection, and basic scientific analyses. Set up test equipment, prepare data summaries, maps, and reports using established templates, support environmental assessments for transportation projects, maintain project records, follow field safety procedures, and help produce deliverables.

Entry-level planner role for current/former HNTB interns supporting transportation and urban planning projects. Tasks include data collection and analysis, GIS and technical software use, map and exhibit creation, report and presentation support, stakeholder/public participation assistance, and documentation for plans, studies, and environmental documents.
