Own backend features from inception through production, develop and improve Kotlin services, write maintainable and well-tested code, and design scalable, reliable distributed systems within a small cross-functional team.

Lead Step’s organic social content strategy across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms. Serve as an on-camera brand representative while developing, producing, editing, posting, and optimizing platform-native video content. Research trends, collaborate with creators, grow audiences, improve engagement, and use analytics to guide content strategy and channel performance.

Own and evolve the connection between design systems and production code across iOS, Android, and web. Build reusable components, design tokens, tooling, documentation, and AI-powered workflows while partnering with product designers and engineers. Improve component architecture, accessibility, governance, developer experience, design-to-code processes, and product quality. The role requires strong frontend engineering, design systems expertise, Figma knowledge, visual attention, cross-functional communication, and experience shipping mobile or web applications.

Leads and scales Step’s engineering organization, technical strategy, architecture, execution, and development practices. Partners with executive and cross-functional leaders to deliver reliable, secure, customer-facing financial products. Responsibilities include managing engineering managers and senior engineers, recruiting and retaining talent, improving processes, removing organizational and technical bottlenecks, balancing product delivery with platform investments, and supporting scalable distributed systems.

Own Step’s marketing technology ecosystem, including CDP, mobile measurement, lifecycle messaging, attribution, analytics, vendor integrations, and data pipelines. Build marketing data models, dashboards, audience tools, and campaign automations while managing platforms such as Segment, AppsFlyer, Braze, and Funnel. Lead technical implementation of paid-channel integrations, rewards programs, and CRM campaigns, partnering across Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Data. This hands-on role may eventually build and lead a marketing technology team.

Lead and scale Step’s compliance program across banking, lending, and payments regulations. Own compliance strategy, policies, monitoring, audits, training, issue tracking, complaints, regulatory exams, and reporting. Partner with product, engineering, risk, legal, marketing, customer experience, sponsor banks, auditors, and regulators to ensure compliant operations and product development. Translate regulatory changes into actionable guidance and serve as the primary compliance contact for key stakeholders.

Leads Step’s risk organization and strategy, owning fraud-loss outcomes, risk decisioning, transactional and account-takeover defenses, and customer-focused mitigation. Partners with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Compliance, and Finance to improve risk models, automate operations, balance growth with controls, and scale a multidisciplinary team across risk operations, analytics, disputes, and investigations. The role is remote in the US or based in San Mateo, with occasional travel.

Build and maintain React-based public websites, owning features from conception through production. Develop reusable component libraries, styling, animations, content platform functionality, server-side rendering, site generation, and mobile-to-web migrations. Collaborate with product, design, and growth teams in a small cross-functional team to deliver high-quality web experiences.

Own Step’s analytics data models, transformation pipelines, metric definitions, semantic layer, and data quality practices. Partner with Product, Marketing, Engineering, Risk, Growth, and Finance to establish trustworthy data foundations and enable self-service analysis. Build reusable query, visualization, and code components; apply AI-augmented workflows; and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and platform engineers. The role requires strong SQL, modeling, pipeline, BI, communication, and independent ownership skills, with occasional travel for team onsites.

Lead People Operations by building scalable HR processes, employee experience programs, compensation and performance frameworks, HR systems, and inclusive culture initiatives. Oversee Talent Acquisition, develop recruiting strategies, manage HR infrastructure, lead high-performing teams, ensure compliance, and partner with executives on organizational priorities and long-term talent strategy.

Develop and own user-facing mobile features from inception through production in a cross-functional team. Write maintainable, well-tested code and help deliver a cross-platform banking application using React Native and MobX. The role contributes to a fast-moving, mobile-first consumer product and may involve native Android or iOS development.
