Zayo is seeking an Account Director to lead and expand strategic customer relationships within the oil and gas vertical. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth through the sale of Zayo’s connectivity, infrastructure, managed services, and security solutions to a defined portfolio of enterprise and strategic oil & gas customers.

The successful candidate will bring deep industry knowledge of oil & gas operations—including upstream, midstream, downstream, and field-based environments—combined with strong technical expertise in telecommunications, networking, and security services. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor, partnering with customers to design and deliver scalable, resilient, and secure network solutions that support mission-critical operations.

Our Account Director will own the full sales lifecycle, from account strategy and opportunity development through solution positioning, contract negotiation, and long-term account growth, while consistently achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.

Location: This remote work position will consider applicants that reside in the Dallas or Houston, Texas metro area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a portfolio of enterprise oil & gas accounts, driving both net-new revenue and expansion of existing customer relationships.

  • Develop deep, trusted relationships with customer stakeholders across IT, network engineering, operations, and executive leadership.

  • Position and sell Zayo’s full portfolio of services, including Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 connectivity, dark fiber, wavelength, Ethernet, SD-WAN, managed services, and security solutions.

  • Lead complex, multi-site and multi-service sales engagements using a consultative, value-based selling approach tailored to oil & gas use cases such as remote field connectivity, SCADA support, data center interconnect, cloud access, and network resiliency.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Engineering, Product, Operations, and Customer Success teams to develop account strategies, solution designs, and execution plans for targeted accounts.

  • Manage the end-to-end sales process, including opportunity qualification, proposal development, pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and close.

  • Secure and retain existing revenue through long-term agreements while identifying opportunities for upsell and cross-sell within assigned accounts.

  • Maintain a high level of activity and responsiveness while managing a complex, high-volume pipeline.

  • Accurately track, manage, and report sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts using Salesforce and other reporting tools.

  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely sales forecasts and performance updates to leadership.

  • Coordinate closely with internal teams to ensure customer expectations are met, service delivery is successful, and long-term customer satisfaction is maintained.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful telecommunications sales experience in the oil & gas industry, with a strong preference for enterprise or strategic accounts.

  • Proven experience selling into the enterprise oil & gas industry (upstream, midstream, downstream, or services).

  • Strong technical understanding of Layer 1, 2, and 3 networking, including fiber-based infrastructure, Ethernet, IP, Security and SD-WAN solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and close large, complex, multi-service deals using a consultative and trusted advisor approach.

  • Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales and revenue growth targets through disciplined account management.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align technical solutions to customer operational and financial objectives.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while maintaining ownership of individual performance.

Estimated Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 USD/annually. This role is eligible for participation in the Zayo sales commission plan.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
