What We Need: 

Synapse Health is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our growing Accounting Team. Reporting directly to the Director, Controllership, this role is responsible for overseeing the organization’s core accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls. 

This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced, scaling environment and enjoys building structure, developing people, and strengthening processes. The Accounting Manager will lead the general accounting function, support month-end and year-end close, partner cross-functionally across Finance and the business, and play a key role in audit readiness and continuous improvement. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. 
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. 
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports and statementsidentifying trends, variances, and areas of risk or opportunity. 
  • Establish, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with GAAP and company standards. 
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and processes; lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Assign work, set priorities, and coach and develop accounting team members, fostering accountability, accuracy, and professional growth. 
  • Review budget, revenue, expense, payroll, and other accounting entries to ensure completeness and accuracy. 
  • Partner with the Controller and other Finance leaders to support financial planning, reporting, and business decision-making. 
  • Develop and maintain strong business process documentation to support audit readiness and scalability. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local financial reporting and filing requirements. 
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and process enhancements as the organization continues to grow. 

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of core accounting processes. 
  • Strong experience with month-end close, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and state and federal filings. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn ERP and accounting systems. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively across teams. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. 

What Sets You Apart: 

  • Experience working with ERP systems in a scaling or multi-entity environment. 
  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA. 
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting staff. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy. 
  • Prior experience in healthcare accounting or another highly regulated industry. 

Compensation: 

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 – $130,000 annually. This range reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Final compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, demonstrated skills, internal equity, and prevailing market conditions. Compensation discussions are encouraged throughout the hiring process.
