POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Supervisor, Financial Reporting is responsible for the monthly and annual accounting general ledger close process as well as preparation and distribution of financial reports to Senior Management and external users. They will supervise financial transactions and reporting (general ledger maintenance, general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations and regulatory filings).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure a timely and efficient month-end close process.
• Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Supervise daily transactions in the general ledger (i.e. approval of journal entries, general ledger maintenance), regulatory filings and all bank reconciliations.
• Supervises and develop Accounting staff. Provide direction and guidance as needed to accomplish team goals.
• Assist in implementation of automation efforts to streamline Accounting processes, including enhancements to general ledger accounting software.
• Responsible for unclaimed property due diligence, filings and remittance of monies to various States in a timely manner.
• Prepare draft audited financial statement and footnotes.
• Provide information and reconciliations for financial audits and Department of Insurance examinations.
• Respond to inquiries from member companies on financial exhibits, participation calculations, distributions, assessments and other queries.
• Responsible for annual review, counseling and termination of Accounting Staff.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting
• 10 to 12 years relevant work experience in statutory accounting and financial reporting
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Microsoft Dynamics Management Reporter software.
• Proficient to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance Accounting (both GAAP and SAP).
• Strong analytical, oral and written skills.
• Exposure to Insurance systems or similar system desirable.
• Motivated and result oriented.
