Role Overview

We are seeking a high-impact, client-facing actuarial leader with strong experience across US Life & Annuities, deep expertise in modeling and valuation, and a proven track record in business development and actuarial transformation.

This role is ideal for a growth-oriented actuary who can bridge actuarial rigor, client engagement, and solution innovation, while helping drive EXL’s expansion in the US market.


Key Responsibilities

1. Client Leadership & Business Development

  • Partner with senior client stakeholders (Appointed Actuaries, CFOs, Transformation Leads) to identify actuarial and finance transformation opportunities
  • Co-own client accounts and support revenue growth through solutioning, proposal development, and deal shaping
  • Translate client pain points (e.g., regulatory changes, model inefficiencies, reporting delays) into scalable actuarial solutions
  • Participate actively in RFPs, client presentations, and strategic discussions

2. Actuarial Modeling & Valuation Leadership

  • Provide oversight and SME guidance on actuarial models across platforms such as AXIS, Prophet, MG-ALFA
  • Lead delivery/reviews across: 
    • Reserving & valuation (US GAAP LDTI, STAT, PBR)
    • Model development, testing, validation, and conversions
  • Guide teams on best practices in model governance, auditability, and controls

3. Actuarial Transformation Delivery

  • Lead and deliver finance transformation initiatives, including: 
    • LDTI / IFRS 17 implementation
    • Reporting modernization and close acceleration
  • Drive AI-enabled actuarial transformation, including: 
    • Automation of actuarial workflows
    • Intelligent diagnostics, model efficiency, and insight generation
  • Support clients in redesigning actuarial operating models (process, governance, tooling)

4. Team Building & Capability Development

  • Build and scale high-performing actuarial teams aligned to growth areas
  • Mentor and develop actuarial talent across modeling, valuation, and consulting skills
  • Drive capability building in emerging areas (AI, analytics, cloud, automation)

5. Thought Leadership & Market Development

  • Contribute to EXL’s actuarial POVs on topics such as Regulatory Changes, model transformation, and AI in actuarial
  • Represent EXL in client forums and industry discussions
  • Support development of reusable accelerators, frameworks, and solutions

Candidate Profile

Must-Have

  • Fully qualified actuary: FSA / FIA (mandatory)
  • 15+ years of experience in life insurance actuarial domain
  • Deep expertise in: 
    • US GAAP (LDTI), STAT, PBR
    • Modeling platforms (AXIS / Prophet / MG-ALFA)
    • Reserving and valuation processes
  • Proven experience in client-facing roles with strong stakeholder management
  • Demonstrated contribution to business development / solutioning / pre-sales
  • Experience leading actuarial or finance transformation initiatives

Good-to-Have

  • Experience with Python / SQL / automation frameworks
  • Experience across multiple product lines: UL, VUL, FIA, VA, Term, Retirement, Reinsurance
  • Exposure to cloud-based actuarial ecosystems
