POSITION OVERVIEW:
Advance sustainability efforts across FedEx Freight (FXF) in support of carbon neutrality goals, serving as a champion, ambassador and business partner for “best practice” sustainability initiatives. Communicate sustainability strategy internally and enhance visibility with employees to embed sustainability into the FXF culture.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support sustainability efforts to align with goals to reduce environmental impact and care for the well-being of employees and communities; communicate our sustainability performance internally and externally and enhance the sustainability aspects of our product and service offerings
- Lead sustainability practices across the company with the support of key functional leaders and resources
- Educate and coach leadership and team members in sustainability concepts and techniques
- Coordinate Freight segment (including Canada and Mexico) data collection and communication for sustainability reporting initiatives such as the FedEx Global Citizenship Report (GCR)
- Conduct studies and analysis on a variety of topics relating to sustainability, waste reduction and environmental management
- Collaborate with stakeholders across functional areas to assess, develop and implement internal or vendor-supported sustainability-related programs, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for existing buildings
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather information and respond to external benchmarking surveys, customer bids, inquires identify, implement opportunities to reduce costs, and improve efficiencies in support of sustainability
- Actively participate in the design and enhancement of reporting systems to capture key sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste, etc.) and provide reports to leadership as needed
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency in support of sustainability
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years professional experience in areas including, but not limited to, sustainability, project management and process improvement. Experience within the Less Than Truckload (LTL) industry, preferred
- Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) for both internal (all levels of the organization) and external customers
- Strong analytical, leadership and organizational skills
- Must be self-motivated and able to make independent decisions
- Must be team oriented and able to handle conflict professionally
- Must be able to manage multiple projects with established deadlines
- Experience and ability to use Microsoft Office Software, including but not limited to; Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
