Iovance Biotherapeutics aims to be the global leader in innovating, developing and delivering tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy for people with cancer. We are pioneering a transformational approach to treating cancer by harnessing the ability of the human immune system to recognize and attack diverse cancer cells in each patient. The Iovance TIL platform has demonstrated promising clinical data across multiple solid tumors. We are committed to continuous innovation in cell therapy, including gene-edited cell therapy, which may be a promising option for patients with cancer.

Overview

Iovance Biotherapeutics is a commercial-stage cell therapy company focused on developing life-saving cancer immunotherapies. We are building an internal AI Strategy & Operations function to drive measurable cost savings and operational efficiency across every department in the company.

We are hiring an AI Full-Stack Product Engineer to build the first generation of internal AI-enabled tools at Iovance. This is a hands-on full-stack JavaScript engineering role for someone who uses AI-assisted development to ship faster without compromising code quality, security, or maintainability.

You will design, build, and deploy micro-applications and workflow automations that solve real business problems. You will work directly with stakeholders across Commercial, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D to turn validated use cases into tools people use every day.
The foundation of this role is engineering. The multiplier is AI fluency. You should be using tools like Claude, Cursor, Copilot to dramatically accelerate your workflow. We want a skilled engineer who produces significantly more output because of how they use AI.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Rapidly prototype, build, and deploy AI-powered micro-applications using React (frontend) and Node.js/Python (backend).
  • Take rough prototypes and proof-of-concepts and convert them into production ready tools.
  • Build lightweight, single-purpose tools designed for low ongoing maintenance. Every application should be simple enough that it runs with minimal support.
  • Use AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, and similar) to accelerate every stage of your workflow - prototyping, code generation, debugging, documentation.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to understand their pain points, translate them into technical solutions, and iterate based on real user feedback.
  • Build reusable components and patterns so each subsequent application ships faster than the last.
  • Maintain clean, documented code and follow standardized build-test-deploy methodology established by the AI Strategy team.
  • Must adhere to Iovance Biotherapeutics’ core values, policies, procedures, and business ethics.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

In the first 6–12 months, success looks like:

  • 5–10 internal AI-enabled tools shipped to active users.
  • 2–3 reusable patterns/components established.
  • Clear adoption metrics for each deployed tool.
  • Reduced manual effort or vendor/tool spend tied to the application portfolio
  • Regular product demos showing working software.

Travel

Minimal. Occasional travel to Iovance’s Philadelphia office for team collaboration or stakeholder workshops may be required.

Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of professional experience building and deploying web applications with React and Python.
  • Demonstrated ability to ship complete, user-facing applications end to end — from problem identification through design, development, deployment, and iteration.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a daily part of your engineering workflow.
  • Comfort working with APIs and integrating with enterprise systems. You will connect your applications to existing infrastructure.
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own priorities, and ship without waiting for detailed specifications. This is a startup-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills. You will demo to executives and work with non-technical stakeholders daily.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Experience building applications that use LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar)
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services or similar cloud-native environments.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare technology environments. Not required, but helpful for navigating stakeholder conversations.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and building dashboards that surface AI-generated insights.
  • Experience with agentic AI frameworks (multi-step reasoning, tool use, planning) and integration protocols such as MCP (Model Context Protocol).

Physical Demands and Activities Required

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to move about inside an office and exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Must have visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen, and extensive reading.
  • This position requires repetitive motion, substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information.

Mental: Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem-solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional workplace or remote office environment and requires standard office equipment and keyboards. Employees who work remotely are expected to maintain their workspace and environment safely and free from safety hazards.
