Who we are
Hallow is on a mission to help people pray. We’re the No. 1 prayer app in the world, with more than 1 billion prayers prayed across 150+ countries. We're building a product that is authentically Christian and Catholic, while at the same time a resource for anyone looking to grow deeper in a relationship with God. We believe that people are hungry for peace, and that there is no surer way to find it than by learning to sit in silence with Christ: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28).
Our goal is to build something truly great. Something that combines the beauty of the Church's spirituality with world-class product and content execution. And we need a world-class team to make it happen.
We launched the app in December 2018 and have been blown away with the incredible growth & traction. Hallow has been downloaded more than 30 million times with over 250,000 5-star reviews. We're blessed to be backed by some of the best mission-driven investors in the world and are excited to build out the team to help a lot more folks grow closer to God.
We are a startup. We move quickly. We are small but we take big swings. Each person is responsible for making an impact. It is hard—but deeply meaningful—work. We'd be honored & humbled if you'd consider joining us.
TL;DR: We are looking to 10x our team’s impact by becoming truly AI native in everything we do. We need someone to lead that transition by helping plan, educate, build, and integrate across the entire company.
- Architect the future: You'll embed with teams across the company to deeply map their systems, workflows, and work product, then re-envision them alongside subject matter experts - (co)designing specific solutions for each team that fit into our team-wide architecture of agents and shared knowledge bases.
- Help build the future: You won't just make plans working alongside our dev team, you'll build, deploy, and iterate on specialized agents and internal tools, structure & integrate data schema, and take each team through a full v1.0 workflow optimization, one team at a time. All while also bringing others along to build with you.
- Educate & train the team: You'll be the main leader in helping every teammate become a 10x version of themselves, creating team resources/guides, holding office hours, and coaching team members through a progressive journey from learning to creative independence. You’ll be at the center of cross-pollinating learnings and successes across the team.
- Own responsible AI use: You'll work directly with the leadership team in defining and enforcing how we do all of this safely and responsibly, maintaining our internal AI and data-security policies, and running the review framework for internally built tooling.
- Coordinate our AI efforts: You'll be the quarterback for Hallow's ongoing transition to be truly AI-native in everything we do, leading our weekly cross-functional meetings, documenting progress, and tracking adoption across every team so leadership always knows what's working, what it costs, and what impact it's driving.
- Mission: This work is incredibly humbling. Every day we hear amazing stories and we get the pleasure of working on something that’s impacting lives. One of our favorite user quotes: “I hate quoting an old, overused cliche, but I’ve been very lost. And I think for the first time in a while I may be found.”
- Ownership: When a company is this small, every employee is a core team member with an outsized impact. You'll immediately be helping lead one of our most core projects across the entire team.
- Growth: From day 1, you’ll be a part of the startup journey. We're growing quickly, and we’ll need your help to expand the creative capacity of our already world-class team so that we can help as many people across the world to pray.
- Flexibility: HQ is in Chicago and we would love to have as many team members there as possible, but we are completely flexible on location within the United States.
- Comp: We will pay competitive market rates in terms of equity, cash, & benefits.
What We're Looking For
- Passion: First & foremost, we’re looking for someone excited about our mission. It makes it a lot more fun :)
- AI-Native Builder: We are not just looking for someone to help train and encourage others. We need someone who is hands-on with AI tools - You’ve built, de-bugged, and deployed a real project yourself. You don’t need to be a full-stack engineer, but you’ll bridge the gap between the engineering team and partner teams, QA’ing homegrown tools at the code level, and understand our backend infrastructure enough to build into it and explain it to other non-technical teammates.
- Systems-Level Thinker: You can understand and re-envision system architecture and workflows across multiple areas of an organization. You know how to work within the micro of specific team workflows while also building with the macro of a team-wide architecture in mind.
- Natural Collaborator: You’ll be working side-by-side with subject matter experts. You can earn trust and collaborate effectively by pulling their expertise into the work so the solutions fit how each team actually operates.
- Coach & Communicator: You can flex your training skills to teach individuals and groups across different formats and audiences, adapting your teaching style and depth to fit who you’re working with. You’ll need to be particularly sensitive to meeting each person where they are in their current personal understanding of and potential fears toward AI.
- Grit: We are a fast-growing startup, so we’re looking for comfort working in ambiguity and the ability to create meaningful impact in short periods of time.
- Experience: You’ve spent time building - shipping real tools, agents, and/or automations - and time enabling others, whether through learning & development, operations, program management, consulting, or transformation work. You’ve done enough of both building and enabling that you can move fast without a playbook.
$120,000 - $200,000 USD per year
The above range only includes cash compensation. Each full-time employee in the US also receives equity compensation, alongside a top-tier benefits package (e.g., unlimited PTO, insurance, remote-flexible work, fully paid parental leave, 401(k) match, and stipends for spiritual development, health & wellness, home-office, and learning).
The above range for cash compensation refers to base salary. All full-time employees are also eligible to be considered for a discretionary bonus at the end of each fiscal year. These ranges are just initial estimates. They may vary depending on market or location and may be adjusted depending on the person we end up hiring for this role, their experience, and market dynamics.
We're a small team and we care deeply about each new hire, so sometimes it can take us a while to get through the hiring process for these roles. Apologies in advance for any delays. We'll do our best to keep you updated throughout the process, and we really appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through everything.
We are honored that you'd consider joining the team and look forward to connecting with you.
Best,
Alex at Hallow
