Our Apartments.com team in Austin, TX is currently seeking a Full-Stack Senior Software Engineer to join us in supporting continual growth and development of our industry leading websites. Work together with a ‘startup-minded’ development team delivering innovative web and business applications. Work is conducted using Ruby on Rails, C#, Python, and JavaScript, with most project code running on Linux. Applications are backed by SQL Server, ETL processes, data caching, and application support architecture.

This role will be based in our Austin, TX office, offering a schedule of Monday-Thursday in office and the option to work from home on Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of website and software using Ruby on Rails.

  • Best-practice software engineering for performance, maintainability, and stability.

  • Competence with Git or similar version control system and experience with SDLC.

  • Use of AI tools in software development.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • AI product development using Amazon Bedrock.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit university or college.

  • A track record of commitment to prior employers

  • 5+ years of web development experience on any platform.

  • 3+ years of experience using a language such as Ruby on Rails, C#, Python, or PHP.

  • Competence on a Linux development stack.

  • Experience using cloud components/Amazon EC2

  • Demonstrated competence with T-SQL/general SQL

  • Demonstrated creativity and problem solving

  • Proficiency with JavaScript

  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong opinions about software design and architecture

  • Ability to visualize and explain complex ideas and build agreement around those ideas with an experienced technical team.

  • High level proficiency in web applications development.

  • Strong knowledge of technical ecosystems & architecture (dev-ops, caching strategies, networking, performance optimization, network topologies, load balancing, SDLC practices)

  • Strong JavaScript development skills.

  • Flexibility to move back and forth between detailed collaboration or independent engineering work.
