As an Application Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Interacting with multi-faceted functions of our global organization. You will act as the technical representative for our end users within our division, leveraging your understanding of our product performance, the competitive landscape, and standards compliance to drive product adoption.
  • Builds and leverages a global network of engineers and scientists, both internal and external, to influence and prioritize application development activities.
  • Support new product launches partnering with product development and business teams to validate customer needs, standards compliance, product performance testing, and creation of technical collateral.
  • Leading customer technical interactions to discover stakeholders’ electrical requirements. Communicating technical aspects of products and applications in writing, verbally, and field training.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related discipline from an accredited university
  • Experience with OEM (Transformer, E-Motors), Auto E (Battery, E-Motors), and/or Tapes and Electrical supplies in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Experience as an Application Engineer operating in a Customer Facing role or in a lab environment
  • Working knowledge of applicable UL, ASTM and other similar agency standards
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to apply innovative solutions to various problems
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation)
  • Demonstrated success working on cross-functional teams

Work location:

  • This role has on-site working model, with the employee working at least four days a week in the office at 3M Center, located in Austin, TX.

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
