POSITION SUMMARY:

DuBois Chemicals is seeking a full-time Technical Specialist to assist the sales team in a territory with excellent upside growth potential. Responsible for assisting sales and service teams to retain customer accounts and generate new business. Includes additional responsibilities to communicate customer needs and requirements to all functional areas of the company to ensure that efforts are coordinated resulting in rapid new and organic sales growth. Demonstrate the company’s core competencies of communication, customer focus, innovation, integrity & ethics, lean & safety, and passion to succeed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expert level knowledge in the field of Pulp and Paper Technologies

  • Collaborate with regional sales and service teams to accelerate the sales cycle, as well as retain accounts.

  • Provide value added benefit to customers utilizing expert knowledge to offer solutions to their problems.

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to the application of products and services.

  • Accountable for the profitable growth within the assigned region within a specific segment.

  • Responsible for providing customer technical interface, account acquisition, account retention, product development and technical training.

  • Align with Research and Development (R&D) and Marketing teams in identifying products/systems to satisfy customers while staying up to date on new technologies and trends in the field.

  • Collaborate with Marketing/R&D Teams to develop training materials specific to the segment.

  • Create and maintain documentation, such as user manuals, technical specifications and provide training to users.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of technical strategies and plans working with cross-functional teams.

  • Travel to current and prospective customers to develop relationships, collaborate with sales/service teams, retain accounts and grow sales.

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years’ experience with chemical manufacturing, chemical applications, engineering, or sales.

  • Proven ability to build/maintain customer relationships at various levels within the customer’s organization.

  • Strong consultation, negotiation, problem-resolution, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

  • Effectively collaborate with team members and departments across the organization.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong leadership, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to gain trust quickly and communicate with tact; a persuasive negotiator able to achieve consensus among differing opinions.

  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with all internal business units.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% including overnight travel.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, chemistry. Engineering, or Paper Sciences is preferred.

  • Involvement with Manufacturing Associations aligned with the preferred field of expertise.
