In this Assistant Controller role, you will utilize your problem-solving skills by taking the initiative to identify and resolve problems. The Assistant Controller position consists of regulating the day-to-day of the accounting staff and providing updates to the Controller. 

How You Will Impact Schoox

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections
  • Contract Review
  • Review semi-monthly payroll runs
  • Calculate sales commission payments
  • Monthly close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
  • Advanced preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits
  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
  • Distinguish and evolve process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency

Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability and willingness to meet business-critical deadlines
  • Foundational knowledge in financial reporting
  • Proficient with QuickBooks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Highly organized and flexible
  • BA/BS in Accounting preferred
  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
  • CPA preferred
  • SAAS experience preferred
  • Remote, in Austin, TX
