We are seeking an Associate Engineer to join the Money Movement team within the Enterprise Payments & Money Movement portfolio. We are looking for someone with a strong growth mindset who is curious, eager to learn, and motivated to continuously develop their skills. You will work alongside experienced engineers to design, build, test, and support modern applications using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Kafka, event-driven architectures, and CI/CD practices. The ideal candidate brings tenacity and drive, embraces feedback, asks questions, learns from challenges, and is willing to step outside their comfort zone to grow. We are especially interested in candidates who are passionate about AI, have experimented with AI-assisted development tools, and are excited to explore how AI can improve the way software is designed, built, tested, and supported. While foundational technical skills are important, we place a strong emphasis on learning ability, initiative, curiosity, and the determination to grow into a strong engineer.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designing Software

  • Apply foundational technical knowledge while working with other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions and business outcomes.
  • Participate in software design, development, testing, and implementation within the team.
  • Collaboratively problem solve, ask questions, and seek guidance when needed while building the ability to work more independently over time.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and persistence when working through unfamiliar or challenging technical problems.

Developing Software

  • Develop, test, and maintain software alongside other engineers using modern engineering practices.
  • Build experience with technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Kafka, event-driven architectures, databases, and CI/CD.
  • Contribute to code reviews and learn to apply team engineering standards and patterns.
  • Take ownership of assigned work and demonstrate tenacity in driving problems through to resolution.

Learning and Applying New Techniques

  • Demonstrate a strong growth mindset and actively seek opportunities to learn new technologies, engineering practices, and approaches.
  • Actively explore and apply AI-assisted development tools to support learning, problem solving, software development, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop the ability to effectively prompt, evaluate, and validate AI-generated solutions rather than relying on AI output without understanding it.
  • Experiment with emerging AI capabilities and share useful techniques, successes, and learnings with the team.
  • Seek and apply feedback from teammates and experienced engineers to continuously improve technical skills.
  • Share learnings, ideas, and discoveries with the team.

DevOps

  • Learn and apply CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and automated testing practices.
  • Participate in the team support rotation and continuously build knowledge of the team's systems and capabilities.
  • Learn from production issues and use those experiences to improve software quality, resiliency, and supportability.
