About the role
As an AWS Systems Administrator, you will manage and maintain cloud infrastructure within Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring critical systems remain secure, resilient, and highly available while supporting application development and deployment efforts.
In this role, you will support the Veteran Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Identity Repository (VADIR), a mission-critical system that delivers military history data to enable eligibility determination, benefits administration, and service delivery across VA.

Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.
- Implement and manage cloud-based solutions, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Automate deployment and management of cloud resources
- Perform regular system backups, updates, and patch management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS services and cloud applications.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize cloud resources for application performance.
- Maintain security best practices and compliance standards for cloud infrastructure.

Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in AWS administration
- Proficient in AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Elastic load balancer, Cloud Watch etc.
- Basic understanding and experience with IAM roles, policies, and least-privilege access
- Ability to support deployments and environment configurations
- Experience reviewing logs and troubleshooting common infrastructure issues
- Experience supporting Oracle WebLogic Server on AWS
- Experience with Linux Operating System (Red hat) and Bash scripts.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and security protocols.
- Familiarity with automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Gov cloud
- Familiarity with handling sensitive data
- Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, are highly desirable.
