The Americas help deliver a personalized shopping experience and seamless access to inventory from down the street and around the world, as well as tailored shopping experiences, including customized buying and selling. eBay seeks to drive growth into new markets and drive value in the shopping and selling experience through building, accelerating, and reinventing. The team consists of marketing, merchandising, operations, business selling, consumer selling, and shipping.  

We are looking for a Category Manager to join our Verticals team at eBay. You will help own the Focus Category Expansion in Electronics and Home Improvement-  if you have an ownership mentality, are able to build cross-functional relationships, and are ready to make an exciting move, we would love to hear from you!

What you will accomplish:

We’re seeking a strategic and data-driven individual to help accelerate growth within our Electronics and Home Improvement categories. In this role, you'll play a critical part in driving our category expansion strategy by collaborating with high-impact sellers and cross-functional teams. Your team will be directly accountable for the success of your categories, with a focus on end-to-end performance.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy for a two-sided marketplace, spanning the full eCommerce journey—from identifying buyer needs to post-purchase experience.

  • Partner with internal partners to deliver critical initiatives that enhance both buyer and seller satisfaction.

  • Lead relationships with top sellers, brands, and external partners to drive significant business impact.

  • Analyze category performance and provide actionable recommendations to drive optimization and growth.

  • Maintain healthy inventory coverage and identify assortment gaps; work closely with Account Management and Business Development to address needs.

  • Define and track core category health metrics—including pricing, inventory breadth, discoverability, customer satisfaction, and overall experience.

  • Collaborate with regional teams, global marketing, and account managers to align on trading strategies and incentive programs.

  • Support ongoing growth initiatives across various cross-functional teams.

What you will bring:
  • 2–4 years of experience in buying, merchandising, or category management within retail or consumer products. eCommerce experience is required.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of ambiguity.

  • Customer- and data-centric approach with a proven ability to turn insights into impactful strategies.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a results-oriented approach to achieving KPIs.

  • Skilled in partner management, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to extract meaning and insights from complex data sets.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$70,000 - $120,700

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
