About the role

At Covera Health, we’re looking for an Associate General Counsel to help shape the legal framework that supports Covera Health’s growth and mission. In this role, you’ll be the second attorney reporting to the CLO, with broad responsibilities negotiating with key partners, working closely with cross functional leaders, guiding product development, and protecting our innovations in AI and data analytics. 

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Negotiation & Contract Management: Strategically negotiate and manage provider, client, partner, and payor agreements, ensuring Covera’s data security and intellectual property rights are protected in our technology-driven ecosystem.
  • Privacy and Data Security: advise on HIPAA, state consumer privacy laws, and AI regulations, and consult on data security best practices
  • Compliance Leadership: Develop and implement proactive compliance strategies, policies, procedures and training & education programs that support rapid growth and unique digital health offerings, anticipating regulatory changes and mitigating risks in our fast-paced environment
  • Regulatory Oversight: Lead our regulatory strategy, including agencies governing healthcare and AI, including the FDA, CMS, AHRQ, state Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM) restrictions
  • Scaling: Ability to create and develop templates and processes, streamline and create automation 
  • Talent & Culture Contribution: Play an active role in further building the Covera team by joining interview panels and contributing to cross-company projects after onboarding
Requirements:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with active U.S. bar membership
  • 8+ years of legal experience - a blend of law firm and in-house roles in health tech or digital health
  • Proactive, mission-driven mindset and comfortable in fast-moving, high-impact environments, jumping into new areas of law with little guidance
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on strategic thinking and proactive risk management
  • Expertise in state and federal  laws and regulations that impact our business (FDA, CMS, HIPAA) 
  • Experience with FDA guidance on SaMD, clinical decision support, and an understanding of state CPOM laws
  • Strong background in product counseling, with demonstrated ability to influence fast-moving teams with clear, business-aware guidance
  • Direct experience advising on legal and ethical implications of AI in healthcare or other complex data environments
  • Experience negotiating complex deals with multiple stakeholders, including licensing, payor, hospital systems, and client agreements

The minimum and maximum base salary for this position ranges from $240,000 - $270,000, in addition to a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, expertise and location. Final compensation decisions may occasionally fall outside of the posted range. Salary ranges are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted in response to market trends and company needs.
