Position Summary:

The AVP, Information Technology Operations is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for modernizing the organization’s data, analytics, and IT operations environment, with a focus on Snowflake migration, data governance, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the CIO, this role oversees “desktop to cloud” technology decisions, ensuring all infrastructure and data processes are scalable, secure, and resilient. The AVP partners with business leaders, technical vendors, and the CIO to define and execute the IT roadmap, lead contract and RFP processes, improve system integration—including SSO—and streamline core operational applications. This role also mentors and holds technical leaders accountable for performance, quality, and delivery, while driving long-term capability building, strengthening internal security, and reducing reliance on external vendors. By establishing governance, standards, and scalable processes across the enterprise, the AVP ensures that the organization meets and exceeds industry standards while maintaining operational efficiency.

What you will do:

Snowflake Migration and Technical Evaluation:

  • Lead Snowflake POCs, assess migration status, and identify architectural or technical bottlenecks
  • Track progress, create reporting, and establish timelines for completing migration and ETL/ELT workflows
  • Oversee deployment of enterprise-scale cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Fabric)

Data Quality, Governance and Standards:

  • Shadow data logistics workflows, identify gaps, and implement validation, ownership, and process improvements
  • Design and enforce governance for file formats, metadata, lineage, and ingestion processes
  • Develop enterprise-wide data standards, maintain a data dictionary, and ensure data integrity and efficiency

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, mentor, and lead data and IT teams, establishing SLAs, expectations, and performance metrics
  • Ensure team members achieve appropriate cloud platform proficiency and accountability
  • Foster a high-performing, mission-driven culture, promoting learning, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration

IT Security and Operational Excellence:

  • Evaluate and strengthen IT security posture, IAM, and compliance with regulatory and audit standards
  • Partner with the CIO to define the IT roadmap, streamline systems, and optimize cloud reliability and cost
  • Lead disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and maintain operational documentation and asset management

Financial and Vendor Stewardship:

  • Support CIO in capital planning, vendor management, and IT roadmap execution
  • Oversee SaaS, MSP, and hardware contracts to ensure performance and cost efficiency
  • Manage licensing, renewals, and technology spend to maximize organizational value

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related field
  • 15+ years in data engineering, architecture, or IT operations
  • 10+ years IT operations experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership managing cloud environments
  • Experience with modern data platforms: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Fabric, and ETL/ELT pipelines
  • AI development experience is a plus
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor high-performing data and IT teams
  • Creates a culture of accountability, learning, and innovation
  • Trusted advisor to business and IT stakeholders
  • Expertise in governance, standards, and processes balancing efficiency and accuracy
  • Skilled in IAM, endpoint management, SaaS, and cloud operations
  • Knowledge of ITIL Foundations, device provisioning, and enterprise frameworks
  • Able to translate complex “desktop to cloud” decisions into actionable requirements
  • Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python) a plus
  • Healthcare security experience (HIPAA required, HITRUST preferred); CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or HCISPP a plus
  • Leads security strategy, IAM, and risk management initiatives
  • Communicates technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborates with operational teams to resolve data and workflow challenges
  • Mission-driven, humble, and supportive; encourages experimentation and learning from mistakes
  • Strong operator empathy; works with teams to resolve data intake issues
  • Aligns with AffirmedRx values, promoting trust, accountability, and innovation

What you get:

  • To impact industry change in the pharmacy benefits management space, while delivering the highest quality patient outcomes
  • To work in a culture where people thrive because when OUR team thrives, OUR business thrives
  • Competitive compensation, including health, dental, vision and other benefits

Note:

AffirmedRx is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. Remote employees are expected to maintain a professional work environment free of distractions to ensure optimal performance and collaboration.
